To you and all the other hateful, xenophobic, isolationist, nativist, foaming at the mouth, immigrant- bashing, right-wing lunatic fringe, buchananite, protectionist, tancredistas:

Do you remember when California used to be in play at the very least for Republicans in presidential politics? The sad thing is that when it comes to moral values, the Latinos have more in common with our agenda than with the liberal, abortionist, pro-gay politics of the Democrats. But one sadly misguided Republican- sponsored proposition is all it took to drive 90% of Latinos into the Democrat column. If Tommy T. were to get his way (thank God this bill has a snowball's chance in he!! of being enacted), he would do to Republicans on the national level what Pete Wilson did in one state.

You guys are delusional.

We live in the greatest nation in the history of civilization, and that greatness is founded on our open society and welcoming to outsiders. You are on the wrong side of history.

Come here legally, and you are very welcome indeed. Come here illegally and you are no better than any other two-bit criminal. You deserve to be treated as such, not welcome guests.

This has nothing to do with RACE, and EVERYTHING to do with respect for the rule of LAW.

I cant beleive how stupid that was. Blacks also have more in common with the Republican party but they dont vote Republican. Time to take your obviously racist, white hating views elsewhere.

We welcome those who follow the rule of law and come here legally. That enables this country to control the impact on our infrastructure and culture.

Your name calling should qualify you for removal from this board.

I don't believe that the pro-Catholicism hispanics have much in common with the liberal agenda.

This has nothing to do with race. It's called breaking the law. You cross the border illegally, at that point you become a criminal. Unfortunately at the national level, the Republican party has become so moderate that good legislation like this will have a hard time getting through. Unless enough citizens of their respective states call in and tell their representation to get behind it

"hateful, xenophobic, isolationist, nativist, foaming at the mouth, immigrant- bashing, right-wing lunatic fringe, buchananite, protectionist, tancredistas:"

There is absolutely no civility in your post. I take reasonable offense to your unreasonable denigration of those participating in this thread. You have been most ungracious and have abused this forum.

I was placed in Mexican detention for allegedly violating immigration laws south of the U.S. border and was threatened with fines and additional imprisonment for failing to display the Mexican flag (in a position superior the U.S.A. flag) on my sailboat in La Paz. I’m not sure why the U.S.A. should be anymore gracious to those of illegal status than Mexico was to me.

You need to be more civil or adios muchaco.

The sad thing is that when it comes to moral values, the Latinos have more in common with our agenda than with the liberal, abortionist, pro-gay politics of the Democrats.

The sadder thing is that along with these moral Mexicans come those who yearn for political power, and will be quick to whip the aliens into a political voting and lobbying bloc, which will further exacerbate the roiling confusion, as the new bloc fights with similar blocs, all with no sense of these morals, for an always bigger slice of the pie.

That is the reason all the morals dripping from these illegal aliens, now being made legally tolerated aliens, won't matter. They will be represented by political advocacy group leadership who won't play their game according to those morals.

Why? Because when you seek after what is not earned, to the detriment of those who earned it, you cannot use morals or you lose.

Do you remember when English was the first language? Do you remember the Republican convention at the Cow Palace in 1956? Do you remember President Eisenhower?

You forgot to add the most important one - law abiding.

It is very unfortunate that so many Latino-Americans condone lawbreaking by their fellow Latinos.

Re your post 15: Your narrow-minded, hate-filled, venomous, taxpayer-hating, illegal immigrant-loving, open borders mentality is not supported by the great majority of Americans. Check the polls--consistently, Americans are overwhelmingly against illegal immigration. You may want this country flooded with third-world immigrants; most conservatives do not. Tancredo is much closer to the American mainstream than your "come-one, come-all" approach.
