Ah, the "tolerant" North, where bands of rampaging whites set upon blacks and killed them DURING THE CIVIL WAR! Yeah, the Civil War was fought to free the slaves, alright .

Yeah, the Civil War was fought to free the slaves, alright .Ah, the South, where bands of rampaging whites set upon blacks and killed them when they tried to assert their rights as citizens FOR ANOTHER HUNDRED YEARS AFTER THE CIVIL WAR! (See also: The New Orleans Massacre, Klan, Lynching, etc.) Yeah, Seccession had nothing at all to do with preserving slaveholders' wealth and privileges, alright.
