Nobody speaks English anymore. Words mean what you want them to mean at the moment.
But speaking of entrepreneurs, I think they could do a reality show about real entrepreneours: Give each contestant $20,000 to start a business and follow them on how they do, and whoever build up the most successful business in a year, wins -- in more ways than one.

The author was right...these contestants were picked because they had already achieved some success on their own. The word choice was fine.
