With Donald Trump in charge, 'Apprentice' isn't business as usual (NBC reality show debuts today)

One lesson is abundantly clear in "The Apprentice," the new reality show that positions Donald Trump as a demigod. Money -- even The Donald's billions of dollars -- can't buy good hair. With his seedy combover, which perches on his forehead like a mohair racoon, the world-famous real estate baron is living proof that conspicuous consumption does not necessarily include a personal Fab Five.

I saw replays on CNBC but i'm not sure when they come on. This episode should replay on NBC next Wednesday night.

"The Apprentice" also repeats at 10:00 PM and again at 1:00 AM on CNBC tonight and on Monday at 8:00 and 11:00 PM ET. Not sure if it's the current episode. I could swear I saw it on CNBC on a Saturday afternoon, but it's not scheduled there.

The entire idea of giving away a car rental is absolutely stupid. The last thing a casino wants is to have people leave. Giving away the means to do so makes no sense whatsoever.

Plus, I've been to Atlantic City. The last thing you need there is a car. Where are you going to go? Philadelphia? You're already at the destination. A large number of people there are on bus trips or otherwise brought into the city. You don't need a car to get around. You have to pay to park it.

If you didn't come in on a bus or plane or some type of organized junket, then you drove yourself. Again, you don't need a car if you already drove there. Really stupid, on so many levels.

Actually, after seeing how Amy flirted with Trump and vice versa, I am revising my prediction to Amy being the winner.

She is a very good looking girl, and has that nice, wholesome look about her, but I think she is a scheming little person, who'll do anything -- including sleeping her way to the board room. I didn't realize this until this episode watching her in the board room.

And after she wins, she'll have an affair with Trump -- Trumpt may even marry her.

It replays multiple times -- I think it's on CNBC today -- try 7 pm, but check schedule. I think it also replays Monday and Wednesday -- check both NBC and CNBC.

Katerina was fired. But it's worth watching.

Check out the interaction between Amy and Trump.

I really though Amy was in the top two (with Bill) before last night's show. I don't think the Donald was impressed with her relationship with Nick, I don't think he was impressed with the idea of giving away the car rental, and I don't think he was impressed with Amy overall in this task. But, based on her past performance, I believe he gave her the benefit of the doubt. If she doesn't come back strong in the next couple of weeks, I think she likely won't win.

Troy's kind of the sentimental favorite "everyman". I think Troy's an excellent businessman, but I don't know if he's a good executive. Place Troy in an entrepreneurial setting, a company of 10-50 employees and he'll succeed. Overseeing the strategic direction for a larger number of employees is a different ball game.

Kwame won't be able to fly under the radar much longer.

Sooner or later, Nick's mouth and temper are going to get the better of him.

That leaves Bill.

After seeing this webpage:

http://www.acclaimtalent.com/html/henry_a/henry_a_ap1.htm

I think Amy's not as interested in getting the job with Trump as she is with getting famous however she can.

I wonder when Amy's webpage started? The fact that its up now makes me think that she has already be fired by Trump. I don't think she's in the final show on April 15.

The link to Amy's page pre-dates the show. I think she has another site now, but I'm not sure.

Troy has a great website, and he's still there.

LOL! Dream on! Trump has had all the marriages he will ever want.

I have wanted Katrina to get fired for weeks, but last night Amy's plan was so poor and I didn't care for her kind of sulk when she lost--for the first time. Get a grip, I wanted to say.

Then Katrina made me happy she ended up getting the boot with her petty remarks in the taxi. All about "them". She acted so high school. This observation goes back to her idiotic "let's write it down" negotiating tactic to get the apartment she wanted and then cried foul when Troy didn't hand it over on a silver platter.

Incidentally, Trump and Imus were discussing how attractive she is this morning and Trump said she had a great "figure" and said he'd say "body" if Don would let him. MEN!

Which brings me full circle to Amy. Well! I agree, more scheming than I'd like. Plus she flat out said in the boardroom last night that she would use people until she had what she wanted then she'd cut them loose without a second thought.

As I said -- pay careful attention to the interaction between them in the boardroom.

Trump may not marry her -- but she was even managing to play him.

She is actually well educated.

Here is her page on NBC:

http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Apprentice/contestants/about_amy.shtml

"I'm a ruthless business woman with a Southern sense of charm."
--Amelia (Amy) Henry

Amelia grew up in Arlington, Texas. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University and received her MBA at Texas Christian University where she was recognized as a Neeley Scholar, graduating in the top of her class. Amelia began her hi-tech career at The SABRE Group and then joined as a pre-IPO employee in 1999 at Commerce One, one of the internet's highest fliers during the dot.com boom. She currently works for BetweenMarkets, a hi-tech startup in Austin, TX. Like many in her generation, Amy had millions in stock options but lost almost everything in the dot.com bust.

What is your definition of "success"?
Being able to create a fulfilling life that is focused on continuous personal and professional growth. LIFE BALANCE!

Who do you admire most (personally and/or professionally)?
Donald Trump, of course. And right behind him is my role model, Martha Stewart...You gotta love a woman who knows when to buy, when to sell and when to bake.

What cartoon character do you most relate to and why?
Catwoman...she's got speed, stealth, smarts and that feline sixth sense....but she is a wild, untamed cat and if you are not careful, she may bite!

I always thought that Katrina's immaturity would ultimately be her downfall. The fit she through in the boardroom about Troy's handling of negotiating the apartment stunt was enough for me to fire her, alone. It was very clear that Troy had gotten under her skin with his tactics.

Troy, himself, summed it up best when he said "when you start getting emotional during a negotiation, you're losing the negotiation."

I also loved Katrina's response, "EMOTIONAL? Did you see me crying? (pause) DID you see me crying?" LOL, there's more to being emotional than crying, kiddo. And you flat lost that negotiation, by yourself.

Plus she flat out said in the boardroom last night that she would use people until she had what she wanted then she'd cut them loose without a second thought.

I didn't take it that way, although it is true that Amy did not shrink from Trump's use of the harsh words "destroy them." She was asked why she would keep a strong team-member when she was ultimately competing with him. Amy said her strategy was to ally herself with the strongest people until she got into a her-or-them situation. This is not "using people" as much as it is smart gamesmanship--and it entails risk. Amy has no way of knowing who will come out of a show-down, but still prefers to keep the strong players in the game. She could have tried to keep Katrina, who is obviously a weak link. To my mind, this would have been a better example of using someone.

That being said, I think Amy is pretty weak herself.

Heads Up everybody for another ORIGINAL Apprentice episode tonight. I think maybe it is time for Kwame to go but we may be in for a surprise. I base that on the previews for tonight's show. Any theories on who gets bounced. Anyway, from what I read in the TV section, Amy and Nick will be breaking up.

Amy and Nick will be breaking up

Not only that, but did anyone else notice how Nick contributed no ideas for last weeks challenge? It was the 2 women who took action. I think Nick should be the next to go.Did anybody else See George and Kathryn on Jay Leno last night? She was looking Fiiiiiiiine in a black miniskirt and monster heels. That George doesn't take any lip from anyone, much less David Arquette last night on the couch. That was hilarious.

Wow! I honestly thought tonight's episode was one of the best in the series thus far. Lots of surprising little twists throughout. You West Coasters don't want to miss this one.
