In California, the state with the largest illegal immigrant population, President Bush's proposal to create a temporary worker program drew immediate criticism from all sides.

Anti-immigrant groups joined janitorial unions and other stakeholders blasting the proposal for doing too much or too little to help the state's roughly 3 million undocumented immigrants.

"California will definitely be the most-affected state," said Philip Martin, a University of California, Davis, professor and editor of Migration News, a newsletter on immigration issues.

California is already bursting at the seams with illegal aliens. California taxpayers will have to build more schools, pay more teachers, provide more free breakfasts and lunches, provide assisted housing benefits, hire more police, provide more aid to dependent children, and build more hospitals and prisons. We'll have to pay for all this while we watch our towns turn into Mexican colonias. Have I missed anything?

Have you seen this yet?

[Los Angeles] DWP to Use $10 Million for Affordable Housing

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will provide $10 million to pay for affordable housing, officials said Wednesday, drawing fire from homeowner leaders who noted that the agency is also seeking a large increase in residential water rates.

Polly Ward, president of the Federation of Hillside and Canyon Property Assns., questioned the timing of the transfer, which follows the DWP's request in November for an 18% increase in water rates over the next two years.

Ain't that great news?

Anything for the invading Mexicans seems to be OK. I hope this "affordable housing" doesn't end up in my neighborhood, you know what it will look like in six months. Why don't we pack up and move to Alaska? I haven't heard about the illegals invading Alaska yet.

California is already bursting at the seams with illegal aliens.

It's all in how you look at it. Don't think of them as an invading army. Think of them as potential Bush voters.

potential Bush voters

In preparation for the third stage of the Bush dynasty? (George P. Bush, Jeb's son)

I'll pass on that one. Two of them has been too much for America.

"Agricultural workers would be very scared and very intimidated. Who wants to identify themselves if they're not sure they're ... on a path toward legalization?" Rodriguez asked.

I doubt they would be scared or very intimidated --- why would they be? Not being on a path toward legalization never bothered them before --- some don't really want to be Americans --- they intend to return home at some point --- but the real reason they won't sign up for the blue card is the same reason many didn't get Mexican matricula cards.
