There is no way that the United States can find and deport 8-12 million illegal aliens in this country, and even if we could, we would do more harm than good.

Sure they could. They are criminals, and the Federal government is to blame. We have many illegals here in Georgia, we might be thrd behind Texas and California. I know several people personally that decided yesterday, after the speech, not to vote for Bush in 2004. Everyone has a line that has been drawn ...

A lot of cops will not do it. Ask any cop if he is willing to get illegals and try to get them to a detention center somewhere or lock them up. And also, how do you find out if someone is illegal??? By their looks. The judicial system would be shut down with cases of racial discrimination.

I call myself a conservative independent. I thought Bush has done a pretty good job in areas such as foreign policy and until now even on the domestic front. This amnesty program has just thrown my vote out the window. Mrs Chavez might make a good point or two but I hate the fact they use our roads and schools yet they do not pay taxes. What if jobs do continue to go overseas then opportunities for us to get these menial jobs will be slim because immigrant workers will be likely to take the job for a lower wage..

Looks like you'd better swing 'em back this way if you really are for conservative justices.

Rush just said we have laws against murder; do we just throw up are hands and not try to bring about justice? He said we could start deporting the illegals if we really wanted to.

Most murder cases are not solved but police officers with integrity try to solve as many as they can. Similarly, although it is impossible to find and deport every illegal alien, INS officials with integrity will make the same effort.

OK, so immigration laws are very difficult to enforce and we can't catch all the offenders, so let's just change the immigration laws so we don't have to try? How would Mr. Bush and Ms. Chavez feel about changing our drug laws in that manner? We obviously can't catch all the dope dealers and it's extremely difficult and expensive to catch even a small portion of them. So what the heck, let's just make drug dealing legal, give amnesty to all current dealers, and presto chango the drug problem is solved!! That isn't governing, it's abdicating responsibilty.

President Bush made proposals...It is up to the Congress to take those proposals and shape them into some sort of law...it is your congressman/woman whom you must persuade to your view NOT the President. Once Congress has messed around, added pork, etc, whatever they decide must pass muster in the Senate. President Bush, like all presidents simply started the ball rolling...Congress is your target not the President.
