Finally after years of hard work. Thanks to OFCC, the NRA, and especially all the grass roots citizens, who worked so hard to get this passed.

The bill also makes the names of permit holders in each county available to reporters who ask a sheriff's department for the names. Good! These should be published weekly in the major city newspapers, under the heading "Don't Try to Rob or Rape US!"

Taft to sign hidden gun billLet's just make this sound a little more ominous, shall we? Will you get a "hidden gun" permit? No, you we get a Concealed Carry Permit.
Hidden guns are what criminals have. Law abiding citizens have CCW's.

After a few years, the more onerous restrictions should be removed once lawmakers see Ohio isn't being turned into a "Wild West" shooting gallery. The enemy of the good is insistence upon perfect. Do those of us who support CCW like everything about this bill? Of course not - but with Bob Taft, its as good as we're going to get. We have fights ahead in Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska.

"The bill also makes the names of permit holders in each county available to reporters who ask a sheriff's department for the names." Weird wording? Why do reporters get special rights? Does this mean only reporters or can anyone ask for the info?
BTW I think this is bad because then if anyone can get the info criminals could do checks to see who carries and who doesn't.

"Hidden gun bill" is this the new liberal term to make "concealed carry permit" sound sinister?
Sort the reverse of all the liberal media refering to "illegal aliens" as "undocumented migrants".

Sen. Eric Fingerhut, a Cleveland Democrat and a longtime conceal-carry opponent, was resigned to the bill becoming law.
Fingerhut is a long time communist demoncrat and supports the killing of babies.
Communists always are against the ownership of firearms by freedom loving americans because they think they will eventually be in power and the things they want to do would cause revolution so why not stop the revolution before it starts by dis-arming the people.
SCREW U FINGERHUT.

CONCEALED CARRY IS LAW - TAFT SIGNS HB12
A revised House Bill 12 has been passed by the General Assembly, and Governor Taft has signed the measure. It goes into effect in 90 days. The Senate voted 25-8 and the House 69-24. The compromise bill includes a provision allowing the media access to records of license-holders.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry, the OFCC PAC, the National Rifle Association and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms have been working for this day for many years.

Lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday to allow Ohioans to carry hidden guns, and Gov. Bob Taft said he will sign it. Well, we know which side of the issue THIS author is on. This verbiage is directly out of the Handgun Control Inc. playbook.

I still don't get why the politicians can't grasp the words
"SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" and the meaning/context of the 2A.
I mean WHAT is so difficult to understand?

The State Highway Patrol dropped its earlier opposition once the bill said weapons in vehicles must be locked away or holstered in plain view. Stupid addition to the law. Permit holders will pose virtually NO threat to the Highway Patrol, whether their guns are "hidden" or not.
