I know my question sounds "basic" but can you tell me WHY are we allowing this amnesty to go forward. Who are we or what are we buying with this????
Votes? It will be years before those illegals who are made "legal" can vote. How can this be of immediate benefit to any political parties right now?
Or is there some hidden agenda I am not aware of?
Is it like the Cuban exiles absolutely directing the way Washington acts towards Cuba.
I wish I had that much clout with my government.

Policy is not always made for an immediate benefit. Often there are five year and ten year plans. However, anyone that is a current citizen with family that lives in a country that this proposal would apply to and they can bring them into the US would definitely vote for a president that wanted to do something like this. This could be the decision that made them swing in one position. If enough people do this in areas like Fl, TX.and AZ. those states are a given. And think about Jeb Bush and what state he would come from if he decided to run. His brother as already potentially given him that state. And even if it is not approved by congress, he has given the impression that he would support this segment of society.
I cannot answer the Cuban issue because I'm not that much of an expert on Cuba.
