I don't need a servant to make my beds or clear my table for me. I don't need a peon doing my yard work and I'll gladly pump my own gas. We're not like the third world elites --- who never wash a dish or clean up after their own mess.

You damned fool, I owned hotels and restaurants.. I guess I could understand if you have never been to a hotel where the beds are made for you, or a restaurant where they actually serve you.. I pity your wife if any were unfortunate enough to marry you, that they have never seen the way the other half lives..

I don't even stay in hotels and motels --- not after the news shows showing how filthy they were --- the same types trying to make a buck using cheap illegal labor are just as likely not to change sheets and bedspreads between guests. I take a camper or at least tents --- my kids at least can sleep in their own germs that way.

You pompous a$$hole,

You must not have read the Lead Moderators warning not to hurl insults ---- but don't worry ---- I'm not going to flag them --- so hurl away. I consider those who resort to flinging insults have nothing much to say.

I don't believe in exploiting poverty for my own financial gain. If you really believed in these people, you'd go to that country and give them good paying jobs there --- it's no caring about them when you pay them as low as you can --- so they can't earn what a middle class American earns.

And I think you're a bigot --- the only "hispanics" (but not immigrants) in my employ are two hispanic doctors that my family uses. I don't even have a white doctor --- but I don't have brown servants. So who is more patronizing? Someone who will go to a professional who is dark skinned or someone who sees them worthy of making beds and cleaning up their table?

... yuck!.. No further questions.. The defense rests your honor!

I know youngsters (I'm in my fifties, so I can use that word), Americans all, who were turned down for the very jobs you mentioned. The illegals are not taking jobs that no one else wants. That is a myth and you know it. It is the time-warn mantra of the enablers of the illegals, who have a political agenda, first and foremost. It's not about filling jobs, it's all about political power and influence, and you know it.

You are just wrong.. Have you ever tried to fill labor jobs on a large scale? I'm not talking about cutting your hedges, I'm talking about pot and dishwashers, maids and restroom attendants, car-parkers.. Major hotels, and classy restaurants, who employ thousands of people, have those jobs to be filled and those hotels and restaurants bring billions of convention and visitor dollars to cities. Very few Americans want those jobs, and they have to be filled.

Most of the starting wages are not good, $7-9 per hour, but within a couple of months they are making $10-12 an hour plus benefits.. If you are an uneducated dropout that isn't a bad paycheck.. However the folks who need them are getting a free paycheck from the rest of us for staying home..

I'll fill them and did with an honest hard worker, and teach them a better job within a year.

Amnesty? What amnesty?

No my nearsighted FRiend, did you read what I wrote or only what it took to make your narrow minded point. I made my business work, and kept a company afloat. A good place to work with a fair employer that gave the best jobs in that industry. A company that provided hundreds of jobs to thousands of family members.

Yes I hired multitudes of workers that had SS numbers that I suspected may not have been their own. Yes I gave them work and a living and they gave me their best. I also had them become legal when Reagan offered them a deal much the same as Bush.. AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN.. they became better Americans than many that I have seen since.

Because I don't think we need to have a servant class? If you're so "helpful" to poor people --- do you ever do your recruiting in some of the chronically under-employed neighborhoods in the USA? Maybe try to help a black teenager lift himself up with a job? Or a welfare mother try to help herself out of poverty? You don't have to leave this country to find people who would be helped by having a job.

If you're paying $12 an hour plus all the benefits, you would not have trouble finding Americans and legal immigrants. I bet you never went to the inner city or some of the neighborhoods where the people haven't worked in a while and even posted Help Wanted notices. It's funny how the recruiters will go 2000 miles to a third world country but not even to suffering areas within this country.

I don't care ---- the last time I stayed in a motel was several years ago --- $40 and it was filthy. I was too tired from driving to go out and try to find another room but I didn't even let my kids walk around in there. It was obvious they were saving money --- but for $40 obviously not passing it down to the customer (and yes it looked like they just imported some Guatemalans who couldn't be expected to have our standards of hygiene). This was after there was a news show exactly on this subject. I think there is a good reason for the skyrocketing popularity of RV's and campers.

Sorry is 'dark-skinned' offends you so much ---- it doesn't me --- I've worked for blacks and hispanics --- but you're the one who sees them in a servant role --- making beds, clearing off your table -- pumping your gas. It doesn't bother me if it's a white person doing those things and a darker person in a professional role. I voted for Alan Keyes in the primary if that helps.

You come off like a southern plantation owner boasting about how well he treats his darkies.

"You fool northerners! I made this plantation a success. I made it a good place for the darkies, gave 'em plenty of honest work that kept 'em strong and healthy. It wasn't the most glamorous work, but it had dignity, and if I hadn't put them to it, your cotton unerwear would have cost you 12 dollars a pair! Would you have preferred that? You would not, sir! I took care of the darkies and they gave me their best. They was devoted to me. I did a great thing for them and this country!"

Wow! He actually makes a really, really good arguement. I can't disagree with him.

I thought that you might be interested in reading this statement. The speaker makes some rather fair and good arguement against Bush's proposal today.
