Giving illegal aliens these benefits only assures us that they are going to pour into this country at faster rates.

And just what benefit is that...paying a $1500 fine for breaking the immigration law...you consider that a benefit? And any illegal currently in the US who does not apply for the guest worker program by the deadline will not be eligible for anything but deportation. What they are trying to do is clear up the backlog at the INS so that they can concentrate on the criminal element amongst the illegals, namely those that will NOT apply for this program. Yes, there is an extradition problem with Mexico, but that has more to do with the death penalty than illegal immigration and if we can clear up some of the backlog at INS, and create a database with the info provided by the illegals during registration for this program (fingerprints, photos) that will make it easier to catch those that commit crimes, we will be better off.

Oh please.....we aren't even enforcing our own laws on illegal aliens now. This program isn't going to stop illegal aliens from coming into this country and this incentive that Bush is offering is only making it worse!

And when these illegal aliens commit crimes, all they have to do to avoid prosecution is head back to the border. We are heading for troubled times and I am now looking for a politician who isn't afraid to close the borders and keep illegal aliens out of this country!
