[history]
A Jackson city councilman told a colleague to get out of his face and threatened to slap him, as all decorum broke down Tuesday during a debate about who will become the next council president.
At one point, Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes told Ward 1 Councilman Ben Allen, "man, if you don't get out of my face, I will slap the..."

"Jackson MS city councilman Kenny Stokes threatens to slap colleague (and more fun)" Sounds like a few too many Democrats on this council. Maybe even way too many.

Omigosh! That video was a hoot! Thanks for the link, A.Patriot.
Was that Brown sitting on Stokes left? If so, he is one seemingly angry dude, too.
"These clowns are doing their best to live up to purportedly racist stereotypes....how ironic."
I really and truly didn't think clowns like Stokes and Brown were capable of being elected. How disappointing. I don't know how the other councilmembers stand it. If my hubby ever behaved that way, I might be tempted to "b!tch slap" him.
I've really enjoyed seeing all of you on one thread and, as usual, I've really enjoyed your comments. It's been a while.
WKB, thanks for the ping. ;o)

Allen said Tuesday night that Horne had called his home New Year's Eve, saying, "as a friend I am telling you that your life is in danger due to your lack of support for Bo Brown for president." Remember Allen was the victim of a carjacking the week before Christmas. You can understand his frustration at any mention of threats against his life. I think I'd be a little 'touchy' too after that experience.
I wonder if his life is in danger b/c he won't support Brown or b/c he hasn't done what every other sensible person in the area has done recently--move the hell out of Jackson!

I caught that when I was watching the link, and forgot to mention it in my post. He mentioned the carjacking and was, understandably, very upset with Horne's call. Did you catch all the times Allen was called a liar by Horne and Brown?
"I wonder if his life is in danger b/c he won't support Brown or b/c he hasn't done what every other sensible person in the area has done recently--move the hell out of Jackson!"
Very good question, bourbon, and the answer could be both.

Well damn....what a video in number 6....wow!
I'm sure glad my family no longer manages the water and sewer works down there.(privatized for 12 years..saved the city around 2M/year)...we dropped out when the council "went black" and they immediately demanded bribes (Stokes was first naturally, he told my dad that the bottom rung done moved up and it was payday time)....they gave it to a Chicago firm willing to pay. Hell, I might have had to shoot one of them myself had we stayed...hmmmm.
This all reminds me of our old Mississippi History books and the Fables of the Recontruction when largely illiterate blacks ran the state under Union occupation and the buffoonery was legendary.....until the troops left and whites wrested back control. That history version was probably not included in yall's books Bourbon and Yudan since you guys came of age after revisionism and feel goodery took charge.
This film should be a thread in and of itself so all the social liberals here on this forum can view first hand how things play out in locales where race matters and divisions are sharp(Jackson 80% black minimum) and all the good intentions in the world don't stand for squat. These folks are operating with one foot into lawlessness and the other foot is about to step down too.
The white hairdoo guy reminds me a a Rhodesian farmer battling windmills....a wasted effort.
Bourbon....keep yer powder dry and at the ready.
BTW....I don't care if the AM yanks this reply....it's the simple truth and it stinks. The inmates are running the asylum, it's plain to see and it's coming to most major urban areas near us all one day.
Regards

There was a thread awhile back...humor...all the "southern" sayings? One was that "He needed killin'" was an acceptable defense in court?
Well, there are a couple of city councilmen in Jackson, MS that "need killin'".
These people are at best nominally human - what's more, they're @$$holes and are breathin' my air.

I'm sorry yall, but that video of the "circus" could surely be from a 3rd world nation, dare I say an African 3rd world nation?
The Jackson City Council members ought to be ashamed of themselves, but I reckon they're not.
Dear bourbon, I 'feel' for you having to reside in Jackson, but wardaddy is right: this mess can happen anywhere.
Thank yall for your straight-forward comments. I've learned a lot.
