Shuler had the ball of his foot crushed at NO and continued to try to play. Finally at Oakland, they told him to quit or he would not be able to walk without a cane. He has essentially lost the ball of his foot. He is in pain everyday because of that injury
Like him or not, he was a tough, athletic guy who caught some bad breaks. He was big, strong, fast, and had a cannon for an arm.
BTW, that same college team that wasn't prostyle enough for some started Peyton Manning the following year. But I guess he is just a hack, too.
