It's ovious you
were a GWB supporter, as you stated [in another post] you had spent "
several days and evenings protesting outside the Vice President's mansion in November 2000, waving signs in support of Bush and demanding Gore "get out of Cheney's house"."
It's now obvious that you have a severe dislike for the President.
It's further evident you never read GWB's record as govenor of Texas, for if you had, you wouldn't feel like the "jilted lover" you portend.
We, here on Free Republic, all know you fell in love with a "whore".
Get over it.

I love what he's done with the tax cuts and economy. I hope the cuts are permanant.
I love how he has prosecuted the war on terrorism.
But he's TERRIBLE WITH IMMIGRATION POLICY! That's a rational assessment, but that isn't a cause to vote for Dean, or too cute by half, not vote at all, which is what the wolves in sheep's clothing, that find space on these threads around the election will suggest.
If they can't beat Bush on more than a single issue, then cause a general funk, and keep the enthusiasm down.. WE lost to Clinton by default by persuading the faithful to sit out an election, and ended our nation giving away our national defense secrets to our most formative foe to prove their point.

We, here on Free Republic, all know you fell in love with a "whore".I'd say fell in "preference over Clinton-Gore at the time" rather than "love". Otherwise, you're right.

Jimmy Carter, who started out his 1980 re-election campaign on a high of 56 percent also lost his campaign, due in large part to the Iranian hostage crisis. His rating was about 27% in the summer of 1979 and he wasn't even expected to win the nomination if he ran.
Then the Iranian Hostage crises occurs, and his ratings shot up. Like any good RAT, he took advantage of other peoples misfortune to try and retain power.
Fortunately the American people saw through it, and voted him out resoundingly. Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Minnesota, Road Island and West Virginia were the only states that voted for Jimmy, and of course the District of Columbia .
The defining moment was the rescue mission attempt. Jimmy had been playing the "Rose Garden strategy", he claimed he couldn't leave Washington to campaign because the Hostage Crises was too important. Immediately after the rescue mission failed, he started campaigning.
The Carter years produced the first co-presidency, because Roslyn Carter was basically running the show back then.

Can you even imagine having that little wood pecker as our president? We would have to sit through press conferences instead of one. The second one would be called for damage control - for whatever stupid things he said in the first press conference.

Calling him a whore is over the top... If he is on the right but centrist enough to actually get elected, we are not going to like every decision he makes. If we run a candidate where we WILL like every decision he makes, then he can't get elected with half the electorate on the left.
If you don't like this, start working on pulling the voting public to the right side of the spectrum... calling Bush a whore won't accomplish this.

We
all have to swallow things we don't like in this political world.
I am no one to lecture anyone else concerning their politics, and don't profess to have any easy answers.
In this rapid and ever changing world, it is a wonder any president can keep a lid on it.
BTW ....... you've done a lot more than me by demonstrating against Gore.
All I seem to do is vote and bitch.
Peace and my regards.

Re-read the post.
I did not call anyone a whore.
I used an anology. ie: "a comparison between things which have similar features, often used to help explain a principle or idea:"

I sure don't remember Carter looking like a colossus going into the 1980 campaign. In fact it was Carter's weakness that prompted Teddy Kennedy to jump into the race. I suppose you can get away with this kind of revisionist history if your audience is younger than say, 30.

Was this poll before or after the big
Bush Sellout on National Security and Border Integrity? I wonder.
I doubt he's going to get the votes of a lot of Freepers over this reprehensible situation.

Today is going to be a sad day for anyone who cares about this country.
