Whatever happened to that wonderful line-item veto idea? Guess the GOP doesn't have any inclination to give that pork up anymore.

Good grief, pay attention. It got passed years ago, and found to be unconstitutional. I think Clinton used it twice.

"a recognition that at this particular point in history the Republicans are showing an incredible degree of solidarity."

So CFR, continued AWB, amnesty for illegals, massive farm bill, billions to Africa for a preventable disease, massive medicare entitlement, Democrat-written education boondoggle, etc - those are the kind of things Republican solidarity gives us???

You're a pretty prolific Bush basher for someone so new around here.

Save it...I'm sure you've lurked for years and only now feel the need to come out and attack him.

It sounded like Tim was pointing out where Bush has been bashing the authority of the U.S. Constitution and the American taxpayer by perpetuating federal largesse.

We need to stop Bush's bashing.

With all due respect, CWO, why are you attacking Tim Osman instead of his argument? Prove him wrong if you can.

Bush is quite happy with Big Stupid Republican Government, especially one that's growing like stink.

And that's exactly what he's getting, so why would he want to veto anything?

You're a pretty prolific Bush basher for someone so new around here.

I've noticed that you have had a problem with several of my remarks on different threads. It seems you're being a bit sensitive here - I didn't even mention Bush in my comment, but the farcical notion of "Republican solidarity". What bothers you is that I'm not afraid to tell it like it is.

If I am a prolific Bush basher, then you are a pretty prolific Bush kool-aid drinker. I read your post history. You're quick to slam anyone who doesn't agree with the official party line. You're not concerned with "working to roll back decades of governmental largesse" or championing "causes which further conservatism in America", the boldly stated goals of this site.

You are right - I did lurk for years. I live in a building with a computer lab, and would sometimes come in to see it on the screen. I became hooked in short order, and checked the site nearly every day.

In the Clinton years, I felt I had nothing to add to the debate. FReepers were always on top of the situation, quick to call him on anything he did. I thought "Now here are some guys with whom I can relate!" People like me - people who believed in small government, conservativism, and holding our public officials accountable.

But our guy became the one who was contributing to the largesse, toward the creeping socialism, and these conservative warriors became slavering Bush fans.

All of a sudden, the commitment to justice and principles vanished, and they were unmasked as nothing but simple partisan hacks. I still held some hope that we might have been able to push Bush toward some semblance of conservativism - I mean, he certainly couldn't ignore all of us, right? Surely, Republicans would recognize the conservatives who had supported them and put them into office? But the mindset of "Who else are they going to vote for?" became the norm in the GOP, and conservative principles were largely abandoned, but for a few brave holdouts (Tom Tancredo being a high-profile example).

You can make fun all you want. So what? You're just some guy on the internet. I'll never meet you. I don't care about you, or what you say, for it has no substance. FR isn't my life, or even a very large part of it. The whole site could detest me as you seem to, and I'd care not a whit. What I care about is that I always be true to my conservative principles, even when those around me have settled for political expediency.

And for every person like me who posts, there are hundreds more reading and lurking, thinking the same things.

Of course...the folks at DU like to keep an eye on things and see how well their trolls are doing.

Clever. I haven't heard such a witty rejoinder since I overheard my 11 and 12 year-old cousins arguing over the superiority of Pokemon vs. Yu-Gi-Oh.

Seriously, your debate tactics are the adult equivalent of "Shut up! You're stupid!" and "I know you are, but what am I?"

Seriously, your intentions are about as veiled as...well, the DU's. That's okay, I know how seriously you folks are taking this next election...and you won't stop at anything to get the White House and Congress back.

Hang in there...you'll find some willing dupes to help you out.
