Sorry, but you are missing my point entirely, which has virtually ZERO to do with the substance of hillary clinton's ethnic "joke."
(Notwithstanding, (as I stated above), as for the substance of the "joke," Gandhi's own grandson, who runs the Gandhi Institute, disagrees with you about the harmfulness of hillary clinton's ethnic stereotyping. Magnify the harm by many orders of magnitude when a political "leader" does this, and does this publicly.)
BTW, it sounds to me like your story undercuts your argument. You and your husband may have "giggled," but the butt of your giggles, the Indians, had, in your words, "complained." The Indians thought they were being stereotyped and they apparently didn't like it.
