Exit stratefy....don't spend all of the tax dollars chasing, identifying, arresting, incarcerating, and deporting the very people who may want to contribute to the solution of the problem. Your position that ALL illegal immigrants are here to look just for freebies is not defensable. It is only your assumption. Give us some numbers.....I'm sure you know exactly how may illegal immigrants out of the 8 million show up each and every day for welfare checks, food stamps, hospital treatment, and etc. People immigrate here because in their heart they want to be free and have a better chance and opportunity to live their lives. Sure there are some free loaders....we got them kind who are born here and never had to cross a river, desert, or ocean. I'd trade everyone of them for 10 illegals who wanted to participate, pay taxes (SS) and prove 10 years down the line that they were American citizens by how they contributed over the last decade, not just because their parents born and raised them and they got some kind of birthright or inheritance coming. Please....

Perhaps some laws are not just or do not really help to solve the problem....we argue that we don't need more gun laws to govern law abiding citizens who own guns, but we are quick to write and increase the laws that address the immigration issues that plague our country right now failing to stop or control immigration (legal or illegal). Just like prohibition was a bad law, so are other laws that continue to fractionalize and divide the people in America based on their ethnic and cultural heritage.

You say, "It should *never* be okay to ignore or break the law." So you would then believe that any law that limits or restricts your freedom and soveignty for the security of the masses is a just law regardless of the cost to your life, your pursuit of happiness, and your desire for privacy?

Well, we have a Republic of laws now. We have agreed upon rules for immigration. How about we start by enforcing the laws we already have? I'm not anti immigrant, I'm a first generation American myself. BUT, we will not survive as a stable republic if the only criteria for entry is who whoever can fly swim or walk in gets to stay. That will lead to the total Balkanization of our country.

I also fimly believe in the old melting pot ideal. When you get here you make it on your own, no endless hand outs. YOU adapt to the majority language ( English ), and culture. It doesn't adapt to YOU. Keep your native traditions,and language ( I was raised to speak Ukrainian and went to school every saturday for 10 years to learn the language culture and history ) at YOUR expense. Raise your kids to be Americans first, I'm a proud former Air Force officer who was ready to kick my Soviet counsins ass's during the Cold War. And be good citizens.

While I agree that immigration is a fiasco right now, I'm not sure that you can classify our immigration policy over the last 200 years as legal or controlled. And then, what do we do with all of the illegal immigrants before the signing of the declaration of independence? No...wait...the indians that's right we are all illegal immigrants if we ask the indians who were here before us. My oh my, so many people, so many points of view, so few with even a drop of compassionate sweat.

For that Golf course owner you are so diligently defending, who is frauduantly screwing you, me and the system, I say fine him 10 times the amount he would have owed if he would have done things the right way. You misunderstood what I meant by exit strategy. I meant that no one has said, nor will they, what will happen after three years of the "amnesty" goes by. Will millions more have streamed into the US during the three year period and after? Answer: of course they will have and will continue to enter the country illegally. No one has said what they will do to stop the inflow as an "exit strategy" from the policy.

I did not say that all illegals are here just to get the freebies, but many are. What makes you think that many illegals are now contributing to SS and paying taxes? I know a lot of them that are paid in cash who pay no taxes nor do they pay SS. Even the gummint does not know if there are now 8 or 12 or 14 million illegals already here. How can they possibly control incoming illegals if they have no idea now how many there are now here?

Oh, and where is the gift horse of illegal immigration? I need to take a close look at its rotten teeth as this is surely no gift to our nation, but rather a huge, rapidly growing burden on the taxpaying citizens who are here legally.

1) Firstly, I apologize for calling you a pinko. I read your web page that night and realized that I was wrong. In fact, I told my wife that night before we went to sleep. I will make a public apology on the vanity(chat) thread in regards to this.

2) In no way am I defending dthe golf course owner -- I was sarcastically nailing him for KNOWINGLY hiring illegals. Several of the replies I got back on this subject lead me to believe that everyone understood this. I beleive he should be fined and then shut down. Although the illegals were nice, they were illegal nonetheless.

3) After much debate on this subject at work, I think that we need to agree to disagree. I see your point, and I can understand where you're coming from, but I don't agree with the current end result.

4) Finally, Pink Floyd in no way compares to front row, center stage at the Pontiac Silverdome for the Who and their 25th anniversary of Tommy.
