A village judge has resigned after being accused of saying most women enjoy abuse and that domestic violence cases are a waste of the court's time.

Yikes. Those are some harsh words indeed. And certainly unbecoming of a judge.

All the same, I must admit I'm often left wondering what the payoff is for some (note: I said *some*!) women who keep returning to their abuser or hook up with other abusers. I understand arguments, squabbles and all that...but if anyone ever lays a hand on me in anger, they can kiss my trust goodbye forever.

Must be a Republican. A Democrat would swear the comments were taken out of context and hold a "Throw The First Stone" rally.

A non-lawyer judge. That is extremely rare these days.

(and yes many domestic cases ARE a waste of time because they are just out of an emotional verbal fight and the police have a policy of taking one warm body to jail no matter what.)

I think so too. It's too bad he had to leave over something said in frustration.

Yeah, I see the same thing all the time and make the same comments as the judge did. I wouldn't be able to keep a job as a judge either. lol
