Rush Addresses Illegal Alien Issue

[Moderator's note: threads regarding immigration issues and border issues have been spiralling out of control for some time on Free Republic. This is going to change. Fair warning: this would be a very poor thread to engage in flame warring, flame baiting, or otherwise being needlessly instigative. If you have not yet read this thread, you may want to before engaging in the debate on this or other similar threads. If there are any questions regarding the new scrutiny of these threads, please take them to that thread rather than cluttering up these threads.

Up until last night, people had been very cooperative with this effort, and for that I was grateful. Last night, I think there must have been a full moon or something, but we'll get that straightened out.

Thanks, and happy Freeping.]

I started this thread because there has been much discussion here about Rush never seeming to address the illegal alien problem. Today he has been talking about it in the context of President Bush's meeting with Vincente Fox and the payment of Social Security benefits to illegals who have paid into the system even though they did so with false documentation.

At the moment he is talking about the increase in black Republican voters, but said he will get back to the illegal alien issue shortly and take calls. I thought there'd be interested FReepers that might be missing it.

"I honestly would prefer to see a Democratic president (shudder) in office with a Republican majority in the Congress to rein him in. Bush, as he projects himself right now is much more scary."

If immigration where the only item on the table you might have a point. Personally, given everything facing America today I don't think the President has done a bad job...and I sure has hell know there isn't a single democrat running out there that I would trust to do even half as well all things considered.

Can you imagine what some of your produce prices in the Grocery store would be if we had Native Americans demanding $15.00 per hour to pick lettuce?

Paying more for food and keeping out illegals would be a very wise choice.

The burden of illegal on this country is huge- the medical care, education, police, prisons, ad all the other accoutrements of the welfare state.

And you are paying for that now through your taxes, as well as losing areas of the country to an irredentist Mexican movement which, I believe will begin to engage in separatist violence

"Don't you just love this Welfare State."

EGADS!
Trouble is, I'm on the "pay-in, pay-in, pay-in" side of that!

If Bush does this, I just might write in "Tancredo" come November.

Perfect. We should get a campaign going in order for this to happen especially for the primaries. Again the problem with this & other issues is the "Two-Party Cartel". To people like Hannity I wonder what it would take for him not to vote Bush. What would it take for a Hollywood nutcase to vote republican. So logically if you continue allowing this cartel to define your selected electorate you will get inferior representation.

It does not say that. Not even close, there isnt nearly enough information on that chart to suppiort your statement, and nearly every study on social security and medicare, which uses census data refutes it.

The fact is simple, for the forseeable future we will have a repidly DECLINING WORKFORCE as the Boomers retire.....

I, for one, appreciate your starting this thread. I heard Rush talking about it and had the same feeling many others have expressed here - we need commentators of Rush's stature to get this aberration on the table. We are being invaded on a daily basis, and more than anything I want appropriate action to be taken. Send these people back! If you are in this country illegally - GO HOME! If you don't go home, we will be looking for you and sending you back under, let us say, much less comfortable circumstances. I once wrote in another thread that I'd seriously thought of voting against President Bush over this issue. I still may...

Considering the low birthrate over the last 30 years, and the massive retirement wave about to hit the econonmy, do you think it is OK if we bring in a massive influx of workers, so YOU can be sure to collect the Social Security, that you just paid into for the last thirty years, while keeping it run as a Ponzi Scheme?

I know I'm definitely in the minority on this one, but personally, I'd love to see the SS Ponzi Scheme come to an end today, even it means that I never get back one cent that I've put in the system my entire life leading up to today.

Are you suggesting we wait 96 years, to fix SSI, and or Mediscare.....The problem currently is the transition time from privatization and means testing versus retiring baby boomers. the Problem is NOW. not in 2100.

A point or two on your demography description:

First, The U.S. is not shrinking. The current birth rate is 2.1 per couple.

If you want to increase the birthrate more here, why are you so hot for a plan than promotes an uneducated, unskilled social class? As has been pointed out many times on these threads, the current class of people that the administration is pushing so much is a net loss. Why not encourage Eastern European couples, many with graduate degrees to emigrate? Giving preference to couples with 3 or more children. That takes care of your demography problem.

Unless of course, cheap labor is really what you want.

The chart shows a constantly increasing population - whether or not there is any migration. It's up to you to produce facts which contradict the Census Bureau projections.

Or do you think the health and education and other benefits for these folks are "free"?

Bingo, we have a winner !

The average illegal alien family consumes $7K per year more in services than they pay in all taxes combined.

There is no direct correlation between how much is paid to the workers who pick the produce and the retail cost of produce at the supermarket.

Now if Bush wants to negotiate a surrender/annexation plan for Mexico, we might be willing to be about nearly ready to listen.

Thats right. The contention that the SSI system will be 'saved' by the combined contributions of 8 million illiterate sub minimum wage day laborers doesn't pass the laugh test.

Yeah, I know! Heresy! Lemme hear it!

OK, here goes. Let me don my feminazi hat and use my whiniest voice:

Why is it always heresy? Why can't it be himesy? Why must you blame women?

How was that? :)

ADM planted the fields that grew the crops on our table.
ADM tended the plants that made the crops on our table.
ADM harvested the crops from the plants that are on our table.
ADM hauled the crops to market that are on our table.
ADM sold the crops that are on our table.

Oh, you mean Archer Daniels Midland?

No, I mean A Darned Mexican.

"the facts are that a lot of the illegals perform work that native Americans just wont do"

That is one of the biggest lies being perpetuated by the supporters of illegal immigration. While that may have once been the case, and may still be in some cases, they have moved on to grab more of the Americans' (possesive intentional) Dream. I have read several whine sob stories of illegals who "got caught" and lost much cushier jobs than those of migrant farmworkers. Of course, the idea was that we were supposed to feel sorry for them that they got caught capitalizing on our resources under false pretenses, but some of these cases were in jobs such as airport security and in at least one case, a woman had become a store manager in a large chain store where she had been working for a number of years. The point is, they ARE taking American jobs.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make teenagers go back to earning a little money of their own to buy the latest trash CD instead of relying on a fat allownace from the folks. Maybe they would learn a little more about the value of a dollar that way. The tobacco farms, when I was growing up, was one of the ways kids could earn money. Lots of teenagers worked in the summer as motel maids. Mowing lawns, working in fruit orchards, and domestic help are all perfectly appropriate for kids or even for parents who have nothing else.

As to the "need" for employers to hire illegals because there is no one else available, where there is a will there's a way, as the saying goes. The problem is that there's no will, at least not on the part of those who have the power....which is SUPPOSED to be the people. This is one issue which has made it abundantly clear that the people have no power at all that the government sycophants do not grant.
