That's what people said in 2000. "If she runs for Senator, she'll have to expose herself, and every time she does she puts her foot in her mouth." True, but what if the press doesn't allow her to put her foot in her mouth? She managed to run a whole Senate campaign without ever joining a real debate, without ever being subjected to any real questions, and without ever letting a real member of the public come within 200 yards of her.
Egregious things happened during the campaign. Muslim terrorists donated money. Her goons protecting her in the Gay/Lesbian St. Patrick's Day Parade punched and knocked down three news photographers because the spectators were booing her. None of this got through. When the audience at a stadium appearance booed her, the news media substituted an applause track for the TV audience.
Don't think they wouldn't do the same in a national campaign. Most small-town newspapers are just as bad as the famous big city liberal newspapers. There are exceptions, but not many.
