CLEVELAND (AP) -- Someone turned in a valid ticket for the $162 million Mega Millions multistate lottery jackpot, the Ohio Lottery said Tuesday, a day after a Cleveland woman claimed she lost the winning ticket outside the convenience store where it was sold.

Sometimes they wait a long time to turn in a winning ticket.

That happens from time to time. Frankly, I don't know how they do it. Imagine the self-control one must have to sit on a winning ticket worth millions of dollars for days or even weeks! If it were me, I'd be up all night long with my heart pounding and I'd be at Lottery headquarters at the crack of dawn to claim it. During all that time, I wouldn't let the ticket out of my sight. But then, I need not worry about that scenario because I don't play the Lottery.

She provided a receipt from the convenience store for a purchase IN ADDITION to the lottery ticket. I would guess that the receipt has a date and time printed on it, which no doubt coincides with the date and time of the lottery ticket purchase.

They don't give receipts for lottery tickets. Lottery tickets are sold seperately - not with goods.

Im given receipts when I buy, say, some milk PLUS a lottery ticket. It still shows time of purchase. If it matches up with the time of the TICKET purchase then its evidence.

Because he's a good lawyer and he knows any additional info she gives the press will go right to the battle scumbag and she'll make up some more outrageous lies to account for them.

The less info she give means the more the "ticket loser" has to verify. battle is a big fat, ugly hat wearing sinking ship and hopefully the cops will pick her up and charge her with filing a false police report.

Its possible to get a reciept for other items purchased at the same time which would put the rightful owner in the store.

Then they should prosecute her for fraud.

And they will, too. Lottery commissions can't afford to have the integrity of their games called into question. And letting people who are obviously crooks ruin it for everybody else would.

THE JUDGE SHOULD call a recess, take the ticket/evidence into his chambers, sneak out the window and go present the bearer's note and claim the prize.

That would test the limits of Finders Keepers.

That your living in Cleveland is irrelevant to the discussion at hand and that, at this point, you should concede that Battle was the scam artist.

Well good for Mrs. Jemison, she had a receipt. But I think all along the lotto officials knew Ms. Battle was not the true winner. Chances are that the winning ticket had several sets of numbers on it that were not picked by the machine, since Mrs. Jemison played the lotto and those numbers for about 2 years. Ms. Battle probably could not say how many sets of numbers were on the winning ticket, if all or some of the numbers "sets" were picked by the machine or by her. Ms. Battle was probably known to be lying to the cops and the lotto folks probably refused to let cops know this until the real winner came forward.

It shows both women were in the store at the same time, and if Battle did drop her purse, the ticket was "found" immediately.
