Soft corportatism was renamed Third Way Socialism by the Blair-Clinton faction, who strangely enough borrowed the term from fascisti intellectuals of the 20s and 30s.
I'd settle for a term with less connotation, consolidationist.

I don't buy it. Bush is a corportist. I am not happy about it but that is what he is. Corportism unduly *helps* big corportaions (thus picking winners and losers, something government should do). I, like you, am not happy about this but he is no socialist. I wish he were more of a capitalist but I'm not sure such a person could be elected President today. I do think that corportism is the next best thing to capitalism.
You want a socialist? Go look at the Democrats. Their stance on health care, alone, would move us far closer to socialism than all the things Bush has done times 100!
