I'm sure that there are areas where spending should be controlled. There always is with government.
However, since Clinton cut the Defense Budget so severely, Bush had to replenish that budget. Also, being at war plays a major role in this budget as well. I could be wrong but it seems like common sense.

I knew it, somehow it was inevitable that it was Clintons fault that the DISCRETIONARY spending has gone up over 30% under Bush and the republican congress. Lets keep making excuse for an out-of-control republican president and congress that is spending this country into bankruptcy.
When they get put out of the majority, they can once again run on a "elect us and we will be fiscally conservative" platform...and people are just dumb enough to believe it.

Clinton cut the Defense Budget so severely, No one (on the conservative side) has said anything about defense issues.
The Socialized Medications are the killer, IMHO. 17K an average 40 year old will before retirement is one estimate I heard.
But the worst part is, everyone else is going to want free pills now too, then complete medical care.
Bush has opened the barn door for full Socialized Medicine, and I doubt it can be stopped now.
