California State Budget Finally Goes Multimedia CD (My Title)

But the administration is not going to be printing hundreds of volumes of the budget. It will instead distribute the plan on computer CD-ROMs, a move that could prove controversial. Finance Director Donna Arduin made a similar move while budget director in Florida. Democrats there complained her "e-budget" was stylish and user friendly, but short on substance and difficult for them to analyze effectively.

Print encyclopedia sets are already passe. Arnold's Finance Director has decreed instead of wasting paper on printing the state budget, it will be distributed on CD-ROMs. OK, so its a catchy move but its a symbol that there's a better and cheaper way to do things. Its time California's state government caught up with today's multimedia CD technology. That's a signal of how Arnold's administration intends to be different in managing government from his hapless predecessor - terminate inefficiencies.
