Don't go there. It happened, which is why we are breaking up. I know like nothing about jewelery, and was at an expensive mall. I was shopping for Birthday gift and stopped by Zales. I saw a nice heart pendant for a chain. It had little diamonds in it. It was like $300 or something. What the heck do I know. Anyway, I gave to her, she said thanks. But, after 4 months of never seeing her wear it, I had to say something. She said something like Zales sells cheap stuff. Fast forward a year and I asked her about what she wanted for her birthday. She said under her breath without me knowing I heard it, "Don't get something cheap at Zales." She said why not a piece of jewelry or something - I said "Forget it." I am never going to be humliated like that again and was soured to want to do something nice for her after she S%^&^ on me.

Chris, if you ever buy flowers or jewelry for this woman again, please do me a personal favor and do not post about it on FR.......if I read it, I'm afraid I would become physically ill. Your indication in a previous post that this relationship is ending gave me a huge sigh of relief. Trust me, this woman is not seeking to build a relationship with you. She is only seeking to elevate her own social status. She wants to be able to tell her friends that her flowers and jewelry came from the best shops in town.......what is in your heart is of no value to her.

If I could work up the energy, I might feel some pity for her.......but I don't think I'll waste the effort.

Oh man, sometimes I hate being psychic. :D

But, you're probably better off finding out now that she's super-high-maintenance.

I'm exactly the opposite, it would bother me to know a guy was spending seventy bucks on cut flowers at the florist, when perfectly adequate ones are available for $10 or $15 up on 86th St. I'd rather a guy dropped seventy bucks in a restaurant than in a florist, personally.

Anyway, if you're ever considering jewelry for a future girlfriend, you could do worse than consult some of us Freeper ladies. We can help.

Wow. That is an incredibly immature woman.

First you have to ascertain if she has the willingness and ability to grow up. If you think so, know that this maturity will probably be a long time in coming. She's really quite a 2 year old.
