There are lots of explanations, but the bottom line is it was a mistake. Democracies can be wrong, but I think the "pundits" are afraid to admit that. They just pretend that whatever the voters decide is right. Well it often isn't, and without good people to keep us on track well we saw what happened.

Now Snowe has done things like trying to remove the pro-life plank from the Republican Platform and voting to acquit Clinton but she never turns up when Republicans need her.She also did it more of less because she worked for it and did not marry into it, or I do not think she did.
She married Gov. John "Jock" McKernan, but I think her political career was already humming at that point.
I would think Sen. Snowe would be better than both these women.
Better at . . . ?
