A quick one:

AMSTERDAM - The Iraqi WMD's, the main reason for the US to start war against Iraq, seem to be found. In Syria. A high ranking Syrian intelligence-officer has given data to a fellow countryman in banishment. The dissident journalist Nizar Najoef - that recieved the Unseco-prize for press-freedom while in jail in 2000 - posted this data and a map with the exact locations of these top-secret hide-outs to De Telegraaf.

Najoef named those exact locations in a meeting in a cafe in Paris, where those WMD's are located, that the Americans and Britisch forces were looking for. To begin a tunnel in the mountain Al-Baida, located 2 km from Masjaf. A second location is a factory from the Syrian airforce in the village of Tal Snan, located between Hama and Salamijja. A third location is near Sjinsjar, east of the road between Hama and Damascus. Buried deep in the ground these weapons are stored in tunnels, that are being used by the 661st bataljon of the airforce. The three locations are located in the western part of Central-Syria. According the writer of the letter, the weapons were brought in in wooden crates and barrels, under the supervision of the chief of the presidential family Assad. The company is located in Beirut, Damascus and Baghdad. The writer suspects the same company was responsible for the smuggling of Iraqi oil to Syria, and from Syria weapons to Iraq.

Informed

According to Najoef these locations, next to the WMD's, also store parts of missiles, that were brought to safety by Saddam Hussein when he saw a war coming. Najoef is also convinced that the US already knows about all this, but for political reasons do not want to make it public.

The Americans don't want to see Assad go yet, according to the journalist. This opinion defends the heavily relying on dimplomacy FM Colin Powell. He is said to disagree with Defenceminister Donal Rumsfled, that has a different view. "When the US thinks it's time to see Assad go, then they will make this info public in a big way", Najoef says. "Because then they can use this info."

Najoef gladly tells anyone about the secrets that have been given to him. After spending almost 10 years in Syrian prisons - because of publications not liked by the government - he doesn't spare his ammo like Powell does. "I know the Syrian regime; it's alomst an exact duplicate of that of Saddam Hussein."

With these accusations Najoef tries to stop that the public is not informed correctly on Syria. "If I read how French, British but also Dutch newspapers tell that Basjir Assad, after all the wrongs his father did, now wants to bring democracy in his country, I only can laugh. If you see how the European Union positions itself towards Syria. That is a disgrace! In December the EU signed an agreement with Syria on economic and cultural cooperation. In that agreement there was not even one line refering to improve the human rights in Syria. And this while the EU during past negociations with Middle-Sea states put heavy pressue on them in for them to respect human rights before they would agree on anything."
