"The country rarely sees any violence (a benefit of pot-smoking?), has a democratically elected government and boasts one of the freest societies in Africa."
Sounds like Ghana should be sending advisors to the U.S.

Sounds like an interesting place to visit.

the countrys worsening economic situationGee, they didn't talk about their economic position getting better there. You mean this is another lying drug article about the good things about drugs? I'm shocked, just shocked I tell you. These people seems so...so...so...FRENCH!

Thanks for the reality check. Ghana is a basket case. It is laughable to say that it has no violence. One can only say that because there is no way the violence is reported in Ghana's present state.

I housed a priest by me for a time from there and it is a hell hole alright. The priest described it as hell on earth.

What if a poor African country could grow a plant that would fetch healthy prices in the U.S? What if the plant could be grown on small farms, encouraging democracy in this poor African country by putting cash into the hands of its poorest and most powerless people? What if such a plant could reduce the poor African country's dependence on the U.S. for aid? Ya gotta admit, they've taken a plant that can be easily grown in a closet with equipment you can buy down at Home Depot, and turned it into the lynch pin for progress in certain economies. Just amazing, when you think about it.

They should grow at a loss and get subsidies, like civilized farmers!
You're a piece of work, you are.

Yup! Looks to be juicy!
We'll have to wait until the judge opens the warrant to the public - Jan. 19th at the earliest.
With any luck, the federal Liberals will receive most of the tar. ;^)

No, the honest issue h-on-s is that they really need to grow food and learn to manufacture or provide a service to grow an actual economy.
They are in for long term hell without that. The Middle East is not far behind because drugs and selling raw materials like oil is all they have and some day we will replace that with another energy source.
It is in our interest to see some form of real economy come to these lands because if they are all starving to death some day, they will be waring with us and others.
I don't think we should give endless handouts though at all.
