You are conflating " legal status" with amnesty. >>>>>>>>

LOL.....I'm not....'legal status' is the *newest* terminolgy that Ridge is using in an effort not to mention the "A" word. And trying to make sense of MUCH that he says is very confusing, such as.....," Ridge added in an attempt to clarify the matter. "So you don't reward this type of conduct by turning over a citizenship certificate. You determine how you can legalize their presence". LOL...lets not reward them, but lets make them legal.

An amnesty by ANY other name is still an amnesty.

I respectfully disagree. The articles written so far, only indicate that a foreigner who applies for the guest worker program, would,at some point, be allowed to apply for citizenship. With perhaps a leg up on the regular emigree, because of their participation in the program.A guest worker program is not amnesty.I have no problem whatsoever with a guest worker program. If a guest worker plays by the rules, returns to Mexico or India or Ireland and because he has played by the rules,is then allowed to apply for citizenship-what is wrong with that ? I have common ground with you on blanket amnesty, but,so far as I can tell,no one is proposing that.My beef is that many are jumping the gun and jumping down GW's throat-based on an unsourced Washington Post article.Best to wait until the facts actually come out and then we can spar.
