January 4, 2004 -- WANT to buy a cookie? If you are a white male, that'll be $1; for white females, 75 cents; blacks, 25 cents. The price structure is the message.
Through Affirmative Action Bake Sales, conservative groups on campuses across America are satirically and peacefully spotlighting the injustice of programs that penalize or benefit students based solely on gender and race. The cookie rebels are being slammed by such a backlash that the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) - dreaded by many university administrators - shot "an opening salvo" in the rebels' defense.

What are the AA bake sales, and why do they engender such furor? Because they expose the truth.
My son has been a server and bartender for years. Ask the average server, including the average American of African descent, and they will tell you the truth about who tips.

Good article, by the way.

Not scientific, mind you, but, as a group, Americans of African descent tip less than Americans of European descent.

LOL, I guess a liberal would put the reverse spin on that one to say Americans of African descent have less money with which to tip ;-)

I like these bake sales. They are perfect in their demonstration.

Right. imo it is even more blatant and serious than that. The mindset is one of "I don't owe you, you owe me." put there by the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the OJ Trial, etc. etc.

I meant "7". Need coffee.

just a thought: perhaps the servers have the pre-conceived notion that the black family isn't going to leave much of a tip so they don't give much service which should receive a lesser tip.
I am a white guy and tip according to the service i receive. If service is really good, i don't mind being really generous..if the service is really bad and/or the "server" is obnoxious or has a really bad attitude, i have no problem leaving a penny beside the plate.

I'm the same way. I wish it were the case but don't think so.

When the leftists began making threats, one of the cookie rebels had called the police because he feared the discussion - hitherto civil - might turn violent. Chambers explained, "Unfortunately, rather than step in and arrest our attackers, the police stood by while the University said we, the peaceful ones, had to shut down because we were creating an unsafe environment. . . . Our protests that the CRs were peacefully demonstrating while the leftists got violent fell upon deaf ears."
Conservatives aren't allowed to sell cookies. Leftists are allowed to attack people. Sounds like a police state to me.

I once made the mistake of telling my wife (then girlfriend) that I tipped based on the looks of the server... never heard the end of that.
These bake sales are an EXCELLENT way to make a point ... I hope people come up with similar creative ways to show the absurdity of numerous other liberal social ills....
To: kattracks
This is a great opportunity for our African brothers and sisters to show everyone involved exactly what all this means.
What they should do is buy half the cookies at the twenty-five cent price, set up a competing table right next to the bake salers, and offer cookies to the white guys for fifty cents.
Then, the government policy will be obvious to all. If you subsidize something to one group in society, they will generally resell it and make a tidy profit.
Pretty neat, eh?

Very good idea!

Why not bring one of the universities that shut down the sales to court? Or, better yet, someone with the wherewithal or sponsors to deliberately be arrested and charged as a test case? This is the pro-abortion tactic, turn it around on these mealy-mouthed university administrators and liberals in general.

it could possibly be a combination of things??? maybe?? remember, there are no absolutes.

And well written. More proof (as if any is needed) that universities are pits of leftism and their purpose is to indoctrinate, not educate.
This is called a "heckler's veto"; it is the last resort of those who cannot win an argument through facts or reason.
I think I've seen this tactic used here and there. Good description of those who "debate" by personal attack and verbal stone throwing, rather than reason.
