Wrong thread.

It actually has a lot to do with the thread. Would you describe yourself as an overwhelmingly happy person?

Trust me, I understand. I feel for you, man.

You haven't earned my trust or anyone else's that I can see here. And the only feeling you know is the contentment of having taken something that isn't yours and then pretending to be a real American about it.

You are beneath contempt.

Where are you and _Dawg getting your valium? You do know you need a prescription for that stuff, don't you?

Since you are not a very happy person, why would I want to change to your side of things? That doesn't make much sense.

Oh get off it, would you please. I can almost see the Charles manson look in your eyes now.

Nothing personal, but you give me the creeps.

"OK."

So you concur? Amazing. That didn't hurt did it. The problem is that the term "communist" was used so loosely, that the true meaning and evil of the term was dismissed. Now if you're a "Green" that's considered cool. But what they advocate is true communism. Too bad our education system has corrupted the true meaning of words.

Just a simple question. Since I answered your question and you can't answer mine, it makes sense that it would only be because you do not consider yourself to be a very happy person. Sorry about that. But I'm done responding to you since I answer your questions to me but you won't answer mine.

It's a very simple question that explains 99.99% of the economic disagreement here. Posts #56 and #57 show that mine is a simple question seeking a simple answer, to which there is only one response I can logically make.

I want to hear how this column reads after Mr. Epstein's job is outsourced to India. I'd also like to hear his comments if we have another world war involving nations and armies and the United States can't supply its own needs because nothing is made here anymore. In the 1800's, the southern states believed that anything they needed could be made just as easily in England or France as it could within their own states. They carried that attitude into their attempt to secede into their own country. What they found was that all that talk about "free trade" wilts when the lead starts flying. A few ships tried to break the blockade, but the South slowly crumbled in part because they couldn't supply the materials needed for a modern war.

Resolving for 2004
Bill

I see where our misunderstanding was. It was simply me talking about "Communists" and you talking about communism. No big deal but I understand where the initial misunderstanding was. Thanks for answering my question though. Very admirable.

Are you kidding me? I'm looking for the Superconductor issue to be resolved. Imagine the efficiencies created in batteries (electric cars), power transmission (thus making solar power plausible), and the internet. It would make fiber look like copper. I hope to live to see the superconductor solution in my lifetime. Then we can create the ultimate "wired" society where power generation, communications and transportation cost pennies on the dollar and allow us to take the next great leap. (oh and so I can invest in it, make a bigger pile of money, and do something stupid like fly on the shuttle for my 70th birthday)

You didn't answer truthfully. You pretended not to know you were violating a paid subscription license. Then you pretend all Americans do that like you do, and further pretend the rest of us are content and accepting of your behavior.

I for one am not. I will get in your face about it everytime you pretend you are like the rest of us.

You are the furthest thing from American.

Logic and extreme emotional states...interesting. Be careful how much water you try to mix with that oil.

"Thanks for answering my question though."

Didn't cost me a dime. Thus why I answered it. There is a diffence between being critical of policy and being happy. I do not follow anyone blindly but myself. That way if I'm wrong, no one else is hurt. However, I listen to all angles on the issues. The writer of this article is an idiot. His knowledge of the subject is impaired because he's never done it. I'll listen to Welch or Gates before I ever listen to some of the Colgate scmucks who write for the NYT or Barron's.

You didn't answer truthfully.

Sure I did. Also said that now that I know it is against FR rules, I will not do it again.

You pretended not to know you were violating a paid subscription license.

I share my Barron's with people all the time. Didn't realize I couldn't share it via FR, but I do now, so it won't be done again.

I'm sorry you are so unhappy, Starwind, but you might want to change your tagline because it's patently contradictory with your statements here. Fwiw, I know thousands of Christians and not a one that would not emphatically answer "Yes" to my question. On the other hand, I've met many people who are only nominally "Christian", which is too bad. They usually hate the question too, understandably.

Absolutely. I'm very critical of many political policies, including some of GWB's.

It is also possible to be critical of policy and a thoroughly unhappy person, or at the least, not an overwhelmingly happy person. Many at FR fall into this category which is very sad.

I hope you mean the New York to Washington shuttle because by your 70th birthday the Space Shuttle will be obsolete.

It's obsolete now!

Which is to say it is impossible to be a Christian and logical. Right?

Your criticism of myself, though misunderstood, was unwarranted. I'm a pure capitalist. Keep the restrictions to a minimum and let me make money and thus society will improve as a result. Remember that no matter how historically damning some of my other threads and postings might be.
