THE OLD, TIRED IDEA that America has only a finite number of jobs -- and that we must guard them zealously against raids from cheap foreign labor -- has been making a remarkable comeback. The only difference is that its upside-down view of the economy has plumbed new depths.

Yeah, only people on Soros' payroll use the spell check feature recently added to FR.

" Wow. You must lose a lot of wagers. #168."

I'm retired after being self-employed after 20 years. Thus why I'm always willing to wager. So how does it feel saying "Sir, I'm calling to inform you about the investing opportunity of your lifetime" day after day, ad nauseum?

Oh, and for the umpteeth time...

from 156...What is the direct impact on an American capitalist?

"You must've forgotten that the EU was ready to slap 4.1 billion dollars in sanctions on U.S. firms in response to our 30% steel tariff. Does that count? [smirk]"

Count for what? So the firms have to hire salespeople that speak Arabic, Spanish or Hindi to sell their products to. And your point is?

"I also gave him another way his tariffs are just a tax on American business in #168. But he doesn't want to go back and read that one I guess."

And referring to your post #55...

"Can you answer the question? Why can't any of you answer the question? It's a very simple yes or no."

Since you are incapable of answering #156 with a direct factual answer, why should I take your diversions as being nothing less than a joke? You can not answer. Your failure to comprehend the influences of Marx and socialism on the world economic scene are nothing compared to your cowardice to staring your own business to prove your faith in capitalism.

"Boy, you cannot take a hint, can you? The question is not whether a U.S. firm has won a patent infringement case against China or Pakistan, but how many. If you'd care to visit the U.S. trade Representative's website, you'd also learn that Pakistan (under its WTO obligations--gasp!) re-wrote its patent laws in 2000 to make foreign claims proceed more smoothly."

China re-wrote theirs in 1997. I'm sure your faith in the Clinton trade reps is totally warranted.

"I'm getting another chuckle imagining you browsing-around the USTR website . . . just look under 'Foreign Trade Barriers,' and click on 'Pakistan.'

I'm so glad you take everything you read from the US Department of Commerce and USTR as "fact". Next thing you know you'll be telling everyone you've met the cast of the Lord of the Rings and will be moving into the "Shire"./sarcasm way off...

"That's tremendous news. I hope this continues to develop along these lines. However, I think we both can agree that many foreign gov'ts pay more lip service than actual effort to many laws.... witness the repeated rapes and robberies of American Citizens in Tijuana -- by the police -- lately..."

"No about page.

Soros plant."

Damn. Busted again. So I guess this means I can't come to the RNC party in Tallahasse this year? In 2000 it was a hoot. Of course, the "no about page" statement could be applied to "W" if he lurked here. I guess we are all just a bunch of mindless little liberals, posting our poison. To corrupt the next generation. So what's your excuse? Are you taking drugs to free yourself from the NEA influence or shall you just proclaims that 83 IQ as your excuse for your postings?

Grampa Dave recognized the pattern first, BTW.

There's a guardian of rational thought. Save some tin-foil for him as well.

or the wealth to pump money into a bloated education system that is more interested in diversity and socialism.

All depends on your priorities.

Waste your time with a general degree, the likes of which most people can attain from regular visits to the local library.

Or focus on a technical skill which may translate into a lifelong career or safety valve of employment opportunities.

If only the gloom and doomers could realize that. AS my daughter puts it, it's like all the "lights are on but no body is home". People need to stop emotionalizing and start THINKING!

Yeah, some tin foil is in order.

But in all honesty, while I don't agree with Grampa Dave's or MonroeDNA's views on the economy and who our real enemies are, I've not seen any dishonesty in their posts and I believe they genuinely care about America.

Texas Dawg, however, does not care about America and is dishonest. He cloaks himself in President Bush fervor so as to avoid scrutiny for his real views which are unilateral economic disarmament at China's benefit.

The cost burden of enforcement is still on American exporters. Microsoft can afford to bring an infringement case, assuming the laws are on the books.

But the cost/benefit ratio is against most companies trying to prevent IP theft.

All the Texas Dawgs of the world are out there pirating any IP they care to, and the cost of hauling their miscreant butts into a foreign court are prohibitive.

Many posters on this forum agree that the centralization of trade in the WTO and the alliance between multinational corporations and national governments(including ours) is fascism.

Then we have the WTO cheerleaders like Texas_Dawg and MonroeDNA who cannot justify any of the positions they take on trade, but instead choose to name call and villify people who are genuinely interested in understanding the terrible things that are happening to our economy. It turns out that name calling--social humiliation, false accusations, belittling if you will-- is a technique used by fascists to create conditions that foster fascism.

So all you who've been hit by the Texas_Dawg and MonroeDNA juggernaut should be proud. You are standing in defense of the nation. The fascist technique of social humiliation, these fellows are employing help to reinforce that the economic system they support is anti-American and anti-freedom.

For your edification, the seven conditions that foster fascism:

The 7 conditions (Warning signs)
that foster & fuel fascism are:

1. Instability of capitalist relationships or markets (yes this is happening with outsourcing)

2. The existence of considerable declassed social elements
(this is happening with illegal immigration, open borders policy of the "free traders" and our government)

3.The stripping of rights and wealth focused upon a specific segment of the population, specifically the middle class and intellectuals within urban areas as this the group with the means, intelligence and ability to stop fascism if given the opportunity.
(The stripping of wealth from the manufacturing sector, the IT sector and other elemnents of the middle class is happening now)

4. Discontent among the rural lower middle class (clerks, secretaries, white collar labor). Consistent discontent among the general middle and lower middle classes against the oppressing upper-classes (haves vs have-nots).

5. Hate: Pronounced, perpetuated and accepted public disdain of a specific group defined by race, origin, theology or association. (Take a look at Moveon.org and the democratic campaign for the presidency)

6. Greed: The motivator of fascism, which is generally associated with land, space or scarce resources in the possession of those being oppressed.

7. Organized Propaganda:(pay particular attention to the last part of section a)

a) The creation of social mythology that venerates (creates saints of) one element of society while concurrently vilifying (dehumanizing) another element of the population through misinformation, misdirection and the obscuring of factual matter through removal, destruction or social humiliation, (name-calling, false accusations, belittling and threats).

b) The squelching of public debate not agreeing with the popular agenda via slander, libel, threats, theft, destruction, historical revisionism and social humiliation. Journalists in particular are terrorized if they attempt to publish stories contrary to the agenda.

Finally, I must find fault with your postings. It's not just "China's benefit." Think about it. A multinational economic agency which regulates trade, manufacturing capacity and raw materials consumption. Sounds like the U.N. to me.
