THE OLD, TIRED IDEA that America has only a finite number of jobs -- and that we must guard them zealously against raids from cheap foreign labor -- has been making a remarkable comeback. The only difference is that its upside-down view of the economy has plumbed new depths.

"Bro, I've not only answered #156 several times, I've posted several other posts telling you I have answered #156. Since you're drunk, it would make sense that you keep posting #156."

Uh, no, you haven't.

From the posting, one more time....

"What is the direct restriction on American business?

For 150 years, we paid the bills of the monster known now as ".gov" on the tariff on foreign products while capitalism emerged from an agrarian to an industrial dynamo in this nation.

From this one statement, this board can only surmise that you support the taxation on earnings and profit which penalizes the success of American citizens instead of requiring equal treatment in exchange of goods and services from foreign powers. Sounds to me like, if we are to follow your logic, you would prefer to allow an international body to dictate the sovereign affairs of the United States in violation of the U.S. Constitution. Shame on you..."

You have yet to name one direct impact on an American capitalist doing business anywhere. Tariffs penalize foreign producers stupid. If our products are the most desired (uh, du, like maybe "Windows XP") then perhaps the government for the people, by the people should be entrusted to protect the creators of those products.

Once again.

156 Answer it, or begone you troll.

Is that the whole article that's posted, or is there more on the WSJ web site, and is there a common password to get--"Hillary Clinton is a liar" doesn't work this time.

" Florida, aka, New Jersey South."

Since you live in Manhatten according to an earlier post, this posting will be dismissed with it's usual derision.

(and remind us constantly).

It's only the questions you keep avoiding I need to remind us all of constantly.

Why don't you answer?

Do you support enforcing subscription agreements and prosecuting IP theft?

Are you opposed to theft, opposed to taking someone elses property in violation of promises and giving it away?

Do you support restrictions on people who violate agreements?

You must've forgotten that the EU was ready to slap 4.1 billion dollars in sanctions on U.S. firms in response to our 30% steel tariff. Does that count? [smirk]

I also gave him another way his tariffs are just a tax on American business in #168. But he doesn't want to go back and read that one I guess.

Boy, you cannot take a hint, can you? The question is not whether a U.S. firm has won a patent infringement case against China or Pakistan, but how many. If you'd care to visit the U.S. trade Representative's website, you'd also learn that Pakistan (under its WTO obligations--gasp!) re-wrote its patent laws in 2000 to make foreign claims proceed more smoothly.

I'm getting another chuckle imagining you browsing-around the USTR website . . . just look under 'Foreign Trade Barriers,' and click on 'Pakistan.'
