I don't know how to prevent this in a way that would not violate personal rights.Ultrasound.

Didn't Reid have less than 12 oz in his shoe bomb?

US security services told Scotland Yard the woman - almost certainly linked to al-Qaeda - intended to hide eight to 12 ounces of plastic explosive in her vagina. She would then go to the toilet during the Boeing 747 flight, remove the material and detonate a blast that would down the aircraft. Oh, the humanity, now we have to fear the vagina!
What has civilization led itself to?

I don't want to discuss more details.I'm hip to that, and understand completely. This one worries me somewhat, but I also know that if someone really wants to kill some folks without regard for themselves, there isn't a whole heckuva a lot we can do about it.

He had about 10 oz.

Okay, that's it...I am NOT going to fly, since a gynecological exam, at my OB-GYN's doesn't cost as much as a plane ticket.

Another element from the New Year's Eve plane, was heavy focus on passengers proving their seating assignment.Since the plane landed safely, they must have surmised the C4 or Semtex had been left at a seat. No doubt they checked the seating area of every suspicious passenger.

She could easily blow out a window and kill a few nearby passengers, unless she's an inpet fool like Richard Reid. I don't believe this would be a catastrophic event, but it would make for an uncomfortable and scary flight.
If she could get into the cockpit she could blow out the front windows and possibly disable the controls entirely. That's a lot of ifs, though. I carry an M203 grenade launcher, which has a 40mm round roughly half the size of a coffee mug. An HE round going off inside the cockpit of an aircraft would kill everyone inside and render that aircraft inoperable.
I don't know much about the structural weak points of a large aircraft, though. If the explosive was shaped correctly it would be more effective, but that would depend on what effect she's trying to cause. If it's simply to make a hole in the side of the plane, 12 oz probably won't be that big a deal. If she intends to kill the pilots, that's more likely to bring down the plane.

Ultrasound.I was thinking of a resonant method, e.g., electromagnetic, but ultrasound might do the same thing.
(I've made lots of electromagnetic models, but I must admit I've never made an EM model of [that]" LOL)

If you think that was cold, you should be here right now, we have a high of 22 degrees and north winds. You obviously are not a seasonal visitor to "God's Country" in Minnesota!
22 degree's?
Mmm, perhaps it's time to wash the car while it's still warm.
