[history]
January 3, 2004 -- RAO'S restaurant killer Louis "Lump Lump" Barone said he was trying to "do the right thing" in defending a woman's honor when he felt threatened and blew away a mobster at the famed Manhattan dining spot. Speaking for the first time since the Dec. 22 shooting, Barone, 67, says he acted out of fear when he took out a gun and pumped a bullet into 6-foot-4 loudmouth gangster Albert Circelli, 37.

He's spinning. He felt humiliated when Circelli yelled at him; instead of leaving the joint, he felt compelled to shoot him. It was about HIS honor, not hers. At least that ending was...

Linda Carter is completely unrelated to Free Republic. But if I am going to have to post donation begs until the Freepathon is over, I'm going to occasionally post something I want! And there is only one way you can stop me! |

You are probably right, but this is still one murder I'm not going to get too worked up over. If the other guy was "made" then he's a killer too, and I can only puzzle over why he was out and about.
Actually, it's like a Soprano's episode come to life.

Barone said he was carrying a gun that evening, in part because of the upgraded terrorist alert, but mainly because that evening he was meeting a friend in a Manhattan social club he thought was dangerous. You mean New Yorkers are now permitted to own guns, and carry them during Orange Alert? How could they have repealed the Sullivan Act without me hearing about it?
Seriesly, this is the story of an older mobster blowing away a younger one, and cleaning up the city a little bit in the process. Hopefully, there will be no inter-mob war over taking out some trash. Give the guy 10-to-20 at some honor farm for his efforts.

Circelli's dead and that's something to feel good about.

That's good because she is the gangster's mole of a made member of the "DemocRAT" potty crime family.

They had a picture of him in the print NY Post, but not in the online edition. He was a handsom guy. It looked like a high school yearbook-type of picture, but he appeared to be 22 or 23 in it. Or then again, maybe he just looked older.

Eh. Looked more like a reject from Saturday Night Fever

Hmmm...nice job finding the pic--I couldn't. And yeah--he is as you describe. I bet these guys had a run-in before--this is not the whole story.

You're right -- this can't be the whole story. Two guys who are either in the mob or very close to it, maybe different families, wind up in a hissy fight over some woman's singing? Sheah...
