(Baghdad, Iraq-AP) -- It's nighttime in Iraq, and explosions along the southern edge of Baghdad mark what the U-S military is calling Operation Iron Grip.
A military spokesman says the campaign is targeting insurgents who've been launching rockets and mortar shells from the sparsely populated area.
Residents of the outlying neighborhood of Doura say it appears U-S fire is landing on fields. Doura, bordered by date palm farms, includes the homes of former officials of Saddam Hussein's government and a palace now used as an American military base.
