In a new fundraising e-mail sent out to supporters on Wednesday, President George W. Bush expressed his concern about the demeanor of the Democrat presidential candidates during their primary campaigns.
Bush told his supporters in the campaign e-mail that although the Democrats will soon choose their nominee to run against him in November, he believes the person who wins will have done it by appealing to the radical liberal base of the Democrat Party.
"Whoever wins the nomination will have done so by energizing their party's left wing with angry attacks," Bush expressed in the e-mail.
Political pundits believe Bush will use the "angry Democrat" theme in the 2004 election to label his eventual opponent as a pessimistic critic while he portrays himself as an "optimistic, compassionate conservative."
With former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean leading the Democrat contenders, some may infer that Bush was referring to him in the campaign e-mail. As a loud vocal critic of the president, Dean is loathed by voters who like Bush as much as he is loved by the ones who hate Bush.
As Talon News reported on Wednesday, Dean has described the Bush administration as "reckless in just about every area" and "the most dangerous administration in my lifetime."
Alluding to the contentious 2000 election, Bush told his supporters that he believes the race in 2004 will be another close one regardless of who the Democrat candidate will be.
"As we saw so clearly in 2000, every vote matters," Bush continued in the e-mail. "A strong foundation has been laid for victory in 2004, but I need your help to win what could be a close election."
The Bush campaign hopes to convert up to 7 percent of undecided voters to their candidate and to mobilize the Republican and conservative base to get active in the 2004 election.
"The strength of our grassroots team -- friends like you who make the phone calls, mail the brochures, put up signs, and knock on doors -- will make the winning difference," Bush pleaded with his supporters in the e-mail.
The Bush campaign has raised $120 million of the $170 million goal they have set for his re-election effort. Although Bush has been trying to play an active role in the campaign, he told his supporters in the e-mail that his job as president supercedes everything else he does.
Bush wrote, "I've got an important job to do that limits my time on the campaign trail."
By comparison, Dean raised close to $40 million in 2003, way ahead of his nearest Democrat opponent.
Talon News recently reported on a Zogby International poll that showed Dean leading all Democrat candidates with 42 percent and an American Research Group poll showed Dean leading in New Hampshire with 45 percent.
However, a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll shows Bush will beat Dean 60 percent to 37 percent in the general election.
Fifteen minutes ago, I saw CNN report that Bush only leads Dean by 5 percent?? -- 51% to 46%. And only a few more percentage points against the other dwarfs.
CNN is playing their bias and lying games for the new year.
"Lying Democrat" label works too.
That is stretching for hope.
Nevertheless, we need to keep on fighting against ALL Dem candidates if we want to win decisively.

Keep 'above' them........and scold them like little children.
Dangerous if you're a terrorist for sure. That's what Americans trust Bush with national security by margin of 30 points over Howard Mean.
