The family of a 14-year-old girl missing from the Far North Side for more than two days pleaded for her safe return Thursday night.
Simone Ashley Theus had gone shopping and was supposed to meet her mother Tuesday afternoon but did not show up. She was with her mother before walking to shop at the strip mall at Howard Street and Western Avenue on the Evanston border.
"If she's being held against her will, we wish and hope they'll let her go," said Sonia Y. Hurdle, her mother.
"If it's something she did, and she's scared, there's tons of people she can call. Tons of people."
Simone has never run away from home and has not been in trouble, said her mother, who doesn't believe she ran away.
"Not possible," Hurdle said. "There's no reason to -- as far as we know."
Simone, a freshman at Amundsen High School, is black, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair and braces.
She was last seen wearing a pink shirt under a blue jacket, blue jeans with pink stripes and pink Timberland shoes. She also had a pink scarf with blue teddy bears and a gray backpack.
Anyone with information is asked to call Chicago Police at (312) 744-8200.

She was found and she's evidently ok:

Any reason given to be wearing a back pack to go shopping?
