Most snipers are familiar with firearms even before joining the armed forces. Davis and Wilson grew up on farms, and both owned their first rifles before they were 10. They fondly remember hunting deer as youngsters.

Heads at the NEA are pulling double-duty as ceiling fans as we speak! For individuals like Davis and Wilson, Army sniper school hones skills learned over a decade or more in youth. Thanks to our education, legal, and media institutions, how many families are left in this country that can bring up young men and women with the brains, character, and moral fiber to competently handle deadly firearms before they have seen 10 years on earth?

Mine, and my in-laws. Plenty of others, just mostly in fly-over country where they aren't so obvious. Wife's nephew shoots better, or did a few years ago when he was 14 or 15(he's still shooting but I haven't shot with him since then), than his dad, who shoots better than *his* dad, my father-in-law. FIL shoots a heck of lot better than I do. The nephew took his first hog at around 10, with a cut down SKS. I'm real polite around my in-laws. :)
