Thinking that his diet of grass would make him healthier and prolong his life, the unsuspecting cow fails to understand his choice during the "Mad Cow" scare.

Well, I guess East Texas beef should be safe as it is grass fed. There are lots of small ranchers with enough land raising 50-500 head. What kind of ranchers feed their cattle this reprocessed mammalian feed? Industrial?

Hubby an old farm boy says grass fed beef is usually tougher, than corn fed beef. There is no reason to put animal products into cow feed. What's wrong with just plain corn and soy meal feed?

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it has everything to do with $$$.

"The odds of you contracting mad cow disease are less than getting struck by lightning or the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series," he said.

OhMyGod! For goodness sakes, we have to get rid of the Cubbies!

We used to regularly eat grass-fed cattle on the ranch where I worked, (many snows ago), and flavor and tenderness totally depended on the age of the cow, how it was cured and the time of the season it was kilt. Some was good, some not so great.

Seems to me the small-time ranchers might have an edge here, marketing-wise, over the factory farms.

"unsuspecting cow fails to understand his choice"

Maybe you should go to a farm and check again.

Compared with acquiring vCJD from eating beef makes getting struck by lightning a certainty.

The estimated population of the Earth (2003) is 6,355,543,810. The number of humans who have succumbed to BSE (vCJD) is something on the order of 135 and of those the huge majority are located in one country.

With odds like that- pass the steak please.........
