"We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve. "

LOL, yeah.

"Fear and Loathing at Democratic Underground?" Going through the DU site gives new meaning to the term "bottom feeders."

Listen to moron DJ's like Howard Stern

Oh, come on. For the most part, Howard is fairly conservative: he is a HUGE supporter of the Iraq war effort, and generally takes the Hollywood types that he often has as guests on his show to task for their anti-American, anti-Bush tirades.

If bush wins again I suggest everyone buy a high powered sniper rifle with a few hundred rounds and learns how to use it quickly.

Let's not forget that late-night talk show host who, during the 2000 campaign, put up a picture of George W. Bush on the screen with the words "Snipers Wanted". Naturally, he didn't apologize nor was he reprimanded by the network.

It would be one thing if they were just a handful of nutjobs posting on a web board, but they're pretty mainstream in the activist population of the democrat party, IMO.

DUh is definitely representing the mindset of a lot of RATs. Have you ever read the "reader comments" on Slate (that bastion of fair and balanced journalism)? They just spew hatred and four letter words, often completely unrelated to the story.

Most newspapers and media outlets are owned by Republicans."

You can definitely see that in the editorial slant of the Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Newsweek, Time, and on NBC, PBS, SeeBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, and NPR. They are always so pro-Republican it's embarassing. And they hate Democrats. Never give them a fair shake. Well it's time for my medication now. I hope they give me two of the pretty orange pills today.

"I would dare to assume that most of us here are in the upper 1%-20% of the population intelligence-wise. We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve. WE are not the norm. The Republicans understand that the average American is not very bright. They cater and pander to the masses. The Democratic Party tries to appeal to the population about "issues" that these people just don't understand."

The above quote nicely illustrates the elitist attitude that characerizes the left. Over a year ago, when Clinton and Dashcle were complaining about the media I wrote:
http://www.aim.org/publications/briefings/2002/dec10.html

"...a wide gulf in fundamental values tectonically separates Big Media from its target audience. The majority of Americans are committed to the survival and growth of freedom. They hold that individuals are responsible for their own actions. They believe that people are entitled to keep what they earn and are ultimately obligated to secure their own welfare and protection.

Our Betters for their part are suspicious of freedom in the hands of the unsophisticates who dwell outside of their coterie. They contemplate the prospect of a self-sufficient populace with a combination derision and fear..."

Reason is a foreign concept to liberals. Emotion alone is their guide. Their beliefs are correspondingly irrational.

As so famously demonstrated by that woman, Miss Barbra Streisand, at Harvard, when she was giving a speech and spouted out some nutty statement. Someone in the lecture hall asked her what her source was and her response was classic LiberalSpeak "well I don't really know anything about it, I'm just telling you how I feel".

"This is appalling"

I wouldn't get too upset. I think they are a hoot!

"We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve."

Not the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree. ;o)

"WE are not the norm."

Well, they did get that one right. lol
Thank goodness THEY are not the norm.

"My Personal favorite was, 'This was a war invented in Texas...'"

Good one!

And stunningly, yet most appropriately, Ted (The-Swimmer) Kennedy remains a the "leader" and mentor of DU-type psychotics.

All of these quotes are quite scary, but I found this one particularly ironic.

"We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve."

I was really LOL at that one! HA HA HA HA HA!! Lower 99%!! Bell curve!! AH HA HA HA HA!

My grandfather always used to say, watch out for anyone who tells you he's a genius!

Gracey, thanks for your email alert. I guess I'm a fellow member of the "Texas Fascist Party". Can you believe they acknowledge publicly we are in the "80-99% of the bell curve"? They phrased that rather awkwardly, but we must remember they are in the 0-79% range of the bell curve where coherent writing is rare. Just look at all the potty language. That's a true sign of a poor education. This was the real stunner for me "ROVE/BUSH/CHENEY ARE GOING TO INSTIGATE SOME MIHOP (made it happen on purpose) TERROR ATTACK, BIO ATTACK IN THE US, MAYBE CALIFORNIA,". Talk about tinfoil hats (eyeroll). This person is obviously kin to Michael Jackson and his delusions.

DU IS FULL OF ANTI-AMERICAN P.O.S.!!!! MAY THEY ROT IN HELL!

CaptainMidnight (excerpt) 3) "When the 2nd plane hit the WTC I remember thinking......OMG, he's got his war now. Then, the next day or the day after that, when the roar of "war with Iraq and Afganistan" really got going I couldn't help but think "well Bush II get's to finish Daddy's work now". As for when the plane hit the Pentagon and the other plane went down in that field in Penn I screamed at the TV, "Get the WH, for God's sake you missed the WH." I invented some cuss words on that one. There were times before 9/11 as well as in the days to follow that the boy king mentioned Saddam "tried to kill my Dad" and couldn't help but scream at the TV each time, "Well, give him a medal for effort anyway." -- LiberalLibra

You know, as ridiculous and often hideous the DUmpster posts tend to be, some are downright vile. Other than the one about Michael Kelly's death, this one is just appalling beyond words:

As for when the plane hit the Pentagon and the other plane went down in that field in Penn I screamed at the TV, "Get the WH, for God's sake you missed the WH."
- from LiberalLibra.

And we're supposed to pretend that people who think like this make sense and should be allowed near sharp scissors, let alone a voting machine?!

I have seen worse. There was one thread were DUers were saying that it was justifiable homoside after a gay male killed a female friend for preaching to him about the immorality of being gay. More recently there was a thread where DUers were discussing how terrrible it is there is no longer the Soviet Union around to 'counterbalance' the US, and called the Soviet Union the 'great experiment'. The DUers were disappointed in the Soviet Union's leadership at slaughtering millions of people, but they all seemed to think that communism theory was just wonderful.

I'm pretty sure that Maddy "The Mad Bomber" Halfbright once also publicly lamented the "lack of competition" on the world stage -- as if freedom and liberty are some sort of intramural game.
