WOW! The malady of the ignorant is to be ignorant of one's ignorance. They're comical, but scary!

Wait a minute, there's got to be a mistake.

Aren't these the same people that call US mean-spirited, hateful, intolerant and consider such emotions as neanderthal? Aren't these the people that respect and want to fight for the poor and average americans? Aren't these the people who don't believe in the death penalty of even cold blooded killers?

So how could they wish death to our young soldiers? I think they were misquoted.

If I were grading Janekat's missive:

I would dare to assume that most of us here are in the upper 1%-20% of the population intelligence-wise.

Intelligent people do not use "intelligence-wise."

We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is. . . .

OK, here you use "majority" as the singular subject and the corresponding "is" as the verb. Fine, no problem. But a little further down you write:

The majority of people do not read. . . .

Now you use "majority" as a *plural* subject, with the corresponding verb. So which is/are it?

. . . in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve.

Not only is this redundant, it is repetitive and unnecessary. You use *three* indicators, "%," "%," and "percent," where one would have been sufficient ("80-99%").

I've heard it said that the reason that Clinton's sex scandal resonated so strongly. . . .

It was a "lying-under-oath/obstruction-of-justice" scandal (not just a "sex" scandal).

. . . people of average or lower intelligence tend to not be. . . .

You just split your infinitive. (That's got to hurt.)

. . . a illogical tax cut.

"An."

Also, for the few people who DO listen to the news - who do they hear it from?

A preposition is a terrible thing to end a sentence with. And your relative pronoun should be in the accusative case: "from whom."

THIS is what we are fighting against people.

This sentence makes no sense as punctuated. Are you "fighting against people"? The noun of direct address needs to be separated by a comma: "fighting against, people."

Janekat, next time remember the poster's maxim: "Proofread twice, send once."

Oh, one more thing, Janekat, in regard to your theory of the superior intelligence of Democrats:

I have a bachelor's degree, two masters' degrees, and am approaching the dissertation stage in my Ph.D. program. I can read seven languages. And I think I am not the exception here. Many FReepers--many conservatives--are highly educated and/or highly intelligent. In fact, I think if you were to compare the levels of education for *Democrat* voters and *Republican* voters--or simply compare the census data for "blue" counties and "red" counties--there would be no comparison! Republican voters, on the whole, are FAR more educated than Democrat voters!

Democrats, aka "the Dims."

Excellent points made. It's nice to see someone who has an excellent grasp of sentence structure take apart something which was posted by someone who claims "superior intellect."

The Clinton sex scandal, such as it was, is still, to my mind, the greatest politcal coverup/misdirection in the history of politcs. I admire its brilliance, while decrying its lack of morality. To see an administration and its minions use a sex scandal to divert attention from the obstruction of justice/lying under oath/temple fundraising charges was as brilliant as it was deplorable.

I might add, feel free to "Fisk" my post. I admit, I have no formal training in English, and hope my sentence structure and syntax do not grate on you too much.

"What we MUST realize in order to win - Americans are stupid and uninformed."

"We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve."

"In order to win we will need to start pandering to the masses."

What a joke...they're not the norm is right!

"It would be one thing if they were just a handful of nutjobs posting on a web board, but they're pretty mainstream in the activist population of the democrat party"

I think that's the point....the nutjobs have become the mainstream of the party.

Or the reproductive one. If abortion has any redeeming quality, it is that THEY are the ones who practice it. (No, I don't favor abortion under any circumstances, other than the imminent death of the mother.)

"The profanity and attacks there are so overwhelming that if the moderator -didn't- permit as much sleaze and garbage as they do, they'd have 2 or 3 undeleted posts on each thread, with 80 other posts wiped out."

It isn't the sleaze and profanity that gets pulled over there; it is any statement of disagreement with the RATCOM talking points. More likely the ones that express intelligent, cohesive thought process and a lack of profanity are the ones that get pulled.

I've never seen them do it, but the cowardly gang mentality would be their preferred approach.
