Really this is to everyone. In this thread see how people make jokes about our claim that unfiltered Internet access causes serious crimes. Sadly, we report that another serious crime has happened again by yet another serial library criminal, and the libraries continue to refuse to filter the computers.

See our main page at http://www.plan2succeed.org/ for the following and the associated hyperlinks:

HERE ARE THE FEB 2004 RESULTS OF A LACK OF FILTERS, COMING TO A PUBLIC LIBRARY NEAR YOU: an 8 year old girl BEATEN, CHOKED, and RAPED (yes, 8 years old) then left UNCONCIOUS, BLOODY, and CRAMMED behind the toilet of a PUBLIC LIBRARY BATHROOM BY a homeless 23 year old MAN WHO VIEWED PORNOGRAPHY! Worse, this was at least THE SECOND TIME HE COMMITTED SUCH A CRIME IN A LIBRARY!!! If the library only had filters, this might never have happened. Who's next? Shouldn't citizens have a say in whether to install filters? Are library "trustees" shirking their responsibility to their beneficiaries, the citizens, by following the ALA dictates proven completely false in the US Supreme Court?
See "The Right of Childhood, A State of Mind," "Man Arrested in Attack on Girl, 8, at Philadelphia Library," "Man Held for Trial in Attack on Girl in Phila. Library," and "Homeless Man's Pastor Told Police of Assault."

Sad, isn't it? We hope they sue that library, the town, and the individual trustees. But that kid's life will never be the same. Hopefully no one will joke about this anymore. Even if you trust your kids the issue is the criminals attracted to your library. A $5/month filter could have prevented this.

It has been demonstrated in various cases (I did not jot down the sources)of a link between porn and crimes. In any case this is rather obvious. Our values and behavior emerges from several sources: our family, peers, schools, the media. Often the indirect and outside sources can have a great impact. This was shown in the so-called Russian Experiment.

To say that Internet porn has no impact is nonsense and is promoted by those with vested interest. One episode of "Touched by an Angel" presented how Internet porn can damage human relationships.
