I hope a lot of people do this, because I could really enjoy shoppoing without huge crowds...

Good. Just stay home with a TV dinner on the 12th instead of eating flautas, and drinking horchata or margueritas at a Mexican restaurant.

Do you tell people what business you'll be performing when you go to the bathroom? Most likely not but if they see you walking for the door they know it'll only be one of two things.

Bush said "blanket amnesty" and as we have seen in the past this administration chooses it's words very carefully for a reason.

There WILL be some type of eventual amnesty, it won't be blanket but it will be amnesty just the same.

She made a good point about how fed up some of us are about Kalifornia bashing. I got a belly full here during the recall.

The point I think she was trying to make is that you can laugh at us, but wait until it comes to your neighborhood. I know a heck of a lot of Hispanic folks who feel the same way.

I've never met a single person that lost a job to a Mexican even though I lived in a city with a "little" Mexico.

Like an employer is going to say "Sorry, you didn't get the job. I gave it to an immigrant." That is not how it is done. Can you prove that no one in the country has not lost out on a job to an illegal? No you can't.

You saw it in #165. Sabertooth has had that around for a while and yet some people conveniently act as though it does not exist.

According to your thinking, I hope you already know the language.

I don't speak Spanish, but English is also not my native language.

In any event, language is a pretty secondary issue. Maybe, someday, this country will be majority Spanish speaking. More likely, English will remain the language for those who want to be succesful in this country. You may be able to get by in Spanish, but you'll never be able to rise above relatively menial, service industry and physical labor work.

People who don't learn to speak proper english are relegating themselves to second-class citizen status. That may be why the parents of hispanic kids are not big fans of bilingual education.

Why would you advocate that someone stay away from a perfectly legal and fully-licensed business in an American city, just because the cuisine they offer is Mexican? One may start to suspect that your personal problem has little to do with the breaking of misdemeanor immigration laws and more to do with Mexican culture.

Most people feel better about themselves when they actually EARN what they get.

Remember when you could earn extra money by mowing your neighbor's lawn, or working after school in a convenience store? Not anymore. That was an important way for teenage kids to learn the value of working and saving for a car, education, etc.

There are plenty of legal residents/citizens to fill those jobs.

It's apparent that this amnesty/illegal immigration hot button is the anti-Bush issue the gracelessly aging economic losers, dimwits and con artist third party types are going to rally around in 2004. Free Republic will be quite a little love nest of xenophobic hate and ignorance from now until November. The molemen are just getting going!

Viva Tancredo*! Viva Tancredo! LOL

*BTW, who the hell let the Italians into America? Check his papers.

An excellent point! There are college kids who can't find these types of jobs during the summers now thanks to the illegals.

The result? Some of them wind up even further in debt.
