Military hospital terror alert

Police closed off streets around a German military hospital in Hamburg following warnings that Islamic extremists planned a car bomb attack.

Hamburg police received the tip-off from unidentified "security sources" at 1330 GMT, said a police statement.

"Those potentially involved are believed to me from an Islamic, terrorist background," it added.

Germany Raises Security at Hospital

BERLIN - Police said Tuesday they received a tip-off that Islamic extremists planned car bomb attacks on a German military hospital in Hamburg, prompting them to shut off several streets around the building.

Hamburg police received the information from unidentified “security sources,” a city police statement said. It stated that authorities had “concrete indications of people who want to carry out attacks by means of a car bomb” on the facility, in the suburb of Wandsbek.

“Those potentially involved are believed to be from an Islamic, terrorist background,” it added, without elaborating.

State officials evaluated the threat as “very serious,” it added, and immediately ordered enhanced security at the hospital. That will remain in place until further notice, police said.

Actually, we have not given in to the claims of terrorists. What I mean with terrorism reaches my country is that this is the first time that the Al-Quaida-network actively uses violence against us. This is just a logical reaction after our steps we took after 9-11 - like banning Islamist several organisations, prosecuting supporters of 9-11, etc.

I think that these terror threads will be taken very serious by the public and that these news will lead to more consciousness of the threat. People here don´t (didn´t?) feel unsafe. Most probably thought that terrorism is just something for the Mid East and the US. They have so soon forgotten what we had in the 70´s until 1991.

Oh man, people are so dumb! Excuse me, I have to say that. Some weeks ago a fellow-student told me that we are safe here! I asked him why our security authorities and the intelligences continue to tell us that there is a current unspecified threat, especially against state, military, jewish and American facilities. He said that´s their job to make big bubbles...

They died?? AFAIK is there (near Cochem) still a Air Force Base (Büchel), and this is still the only base in Germany where German Tornado jets are alert-ready 24/7. But only the US AF knows wether the bombs on these planes are really nuclear or just fakes.
