Wolfowitz is a demonic figure to the anti-war types for little reason other than that his name begins with a big scary animal and ends Jewishly.

LOL! Wish that would fit in my tag line!

Steyn!

For a significant chunk of the British establishment and for most of the governing class on the Continent, if it's a choice between an America-led West or no West at all they'll take the latter. That's the trend to watch in the year ahead.

Isn't Mark Steyn the one who calls Nikita Dean a "bike path leftist" because he showed more anger towards his church that wouldn't allow a bike path on the property, than at Saddam Hussein or Osama?

Bike path leftist......ya gotta love it.

Yep. Liberals get more riled up at bike path inaccessibility than they do at murderous despots like Saddam or Kim Il Jong.

How about ...

Steyn: Leftists demonize Wolfowitz because his name begins with a big scary animal and ends Jewishly

Well, it seems most media types holed up at the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad are still using their old Ba'athist minders as translators when they venture out.

That one's gonna leave a mark.

So they still look at Iraq through a blinkered lens? No wonder they never see the real Iraq south and north of the Sunni Triangle.

Really getting tired of the doom and gloomers. Wish they would actually pack their bags and find another place to call home. Pretty sick when a bunch of liberals want things to go bad for this Country so they can feel good!

That's simply because liberals, though they'll never publicly admit it, love and admire depots like Pol Pot, Saddam, Stalin and Kim Jong Il. Given the opportunity, liberals would behave exactly like them. The one thing liberals do know is that it's great fun to live in a dictatorship, if you're the dictator or are in his favored circle.

Try this:

Wolfowitz - begins with a big scary animal and ends Jewishly - BOO!

That's why I dread this upcoming campaign season. As the Rats get more and more desperate, the more openly they'll be hoping for some major catastrophe, and the more willing they'll be to do everything they can to bring one about.

Steyn's amazing (his picture is always disconcerting though because to me he looks just like Toby Keith -- I half expect him to belt out some great rockabilly song or something at any moment). Anyway, I wonder why he doesn't make the talk show rounds like Ann Coulter? Give the libs' blood pressure another reason to go through the roof? A lot of them don't know him.

A pudgy, bearded, intellectual Toby Keith? Gotta say I don't see it ... but I'm a displaced Okie, we're a little obsessive about our boy Toby :-)

Can anyone explain this: Jenkins is one of the great and good, he sits on quangos with big-time baronesses.

Is it some kind of Australian sexual reference?

Oh, THANK YOU for giving me a Steyn fix! And the line you selected about Wolfowitz' name is one of his more classic jibes!

Had to look that one up myself. Dictionary.com defines quango as:
An organization or agency that is financed by a government but that acts independently of it.

[qua(si) n(on-)g(overnmental) o(rganization).]
Which NGOs he's referring to, I have no idea.

I'm dying here.

Unfortunately, his wit and talent seem to be going largely unnoticed among the masses. Really, really too bad. The man is Pulitzer material.
