For a significant chunk of the British establishment and for most of the governing class on the Continent, if it's a choice between an America-led West or no West at all they'll take the latter. That's the trend to watch in the year ahead.

Given the opportunity, liberals would behave exactly like them. The one thing liberals do know is that it's great fun to live in a dictatorship, if you're the dictator or are in his favored circle.

Steyn's amazing (his picture is always disconcerting though because to me he looks just like Toby Keith -- I half expect him to belt out some great rockabilly song or something at any moment).
