[history]
Elizabeth Corrie would see her younger cousin every summer at the family vacation spot on Minnesota's Cedar Lake.
Elizabeth, a Midlothian High School alumna who teaches at a private school in Atlanta, was born nearly a decade earlier than Rachel. But they shared a similar sense of humor, a yearning for social justice and a desire to make a difference.

I think it is beneath FReepers to laugh at someone else's grief. True, in the past responses like these would never have been posted.

There is no question at all that Free Republic is a much more humane site than DU. Conversational threads last much longer here, and people really attempt to grapple with complex issues and introduce new facts into the discussions to be considered. It always moves me when I see requests for prayers or advice, death announcements or other human issues. That stuff would be mocked on DU.
I think it is the FR tendency to see problems in terms of their consequences to human beings, instead of seeing them as ideological. That's why I get so angry when I see sympathy for a pampered college student who thought nothing of flying halfway across the world to protect murderers who are smuggling weapons between countries. In my opinion, the proper reaction to people like that is contempt and disgust, not sympathy. I wonder how many children and babies, to say nothing of soldiers, were murdered by Palestinian Arabs using weapons smuggled through the very tunnels that Rachel Corrie was protecting? I would like to ask her cousin why the lives of innocent Israelis and visitors to Israel are not worth a second thought, but the death of this criminal co-conspirator should become a worldwide concern.
At best, this is reckless endangerment of scores of human lives, and I believe that she could be convicted of felony murder for her actions. I have no sympathy for her or her craven family.

The Corries share a tender moment with the world's leading arch terrorist, Jew-killer, and genocidal arab muslim terrorist.

I detect a family resemblance - you might be my cousin.

This "child" was brought up by her thoroughly liberal parents in Olympia (I am from there, I know people just like them) to do exactly what she did. They are proud of her, and would have never reprimanded her for anything she chose to do - from have sex at age 13 to burn an American flag. Rachel could do nothing wrong as long as she never voted Republican.

Ignore the comments for the time being.
Tell you why in FReepmail.

The pancake and bulldozer jokes are an entirely appropriate response to this piece of trash propaganda article. Any sympathy to the Corrie family is misplaced at best. They don't deserve any more public attention at all, but if they insist on standing in the spotlight to spew their anti-American, anti-Jew, pro-terrorist, hatefully dangerous liberal crap disguised as love for the world, then we are obligated to throw tomatoes at them, and make sure they sting when they hit right on target.

>>Won't you please fix the title here?
>>How about changing "Activist" to "Terror Supporter"?
How about future wife, mother, freeper, what-have-you? She'll never arrive at the maturity and wisdom, and if you can't appreciate that I'm wasting my energy. But the nasty comments here make me ashamed of my fellow freepers.

That school is the No. 1 harborer of anti-war hippies, greenies, ELFies, Palestinian sympathizers, and other liberal loons. Maybe on your coast, but here in the People's Republic of Washington, Corrie's old alma mater of Evergreen State College is our number one supplier of worthless hippie slime. They did a big to-do about her at their last graduation ceremony, she's a friggin' hero to these America-haters.
To: Graymatter
Why the sympathy for an enabler and co-conspirator of murderers? If I go back through your posts, will I see you referring to every single dead woman as a future wife and mother? Why only dead people? Hilary also is a wife and mother.
I don't think her inability to bear children or get married as a pancake is relevant. I think insisting on the use of these terms is a calculated scheme to engender sympathy for a felony-murderer who thinks that the lives of innocent Israeli babies and their mothers are worth exactly nothing.

we are obligated to throw tomatoes at them, and make sure they sting when they hit right on target. I disagree, we are obligated to throw tomatoes at their beliefs and make sure they sting when they hit right on target.
Making fun of her death is just plain bad taste.

Welcome to FreeRepublic. You won't find much/any sympathy for the girl here. Someone who leads anti-American protest on foreign soil & tears up an American flag for the cameras, is a traitor.

Man, those guys are just mean-spirited! Damn! I'm really saddened that these guys are reduced [to] bitter shots at a young lady of strong convictions and high ideals who had the strength to work actively for something she believed in while bringing absolutely no harm to *anyone*!
I have a difficult time realizing that many of those posters could be my own neighbors or (God forbid) family-members. So much bitterness and lack of, well... just plain decency.
Just another day in America... sheesh!

If Rachel was alive today we never would have heard of her or her silly cousin and the rest of her family. It is because she got squished that these people are inflicted upon us now. She's a flippin' martyr to their "cause" of defending terrorist strongholds. She and her family deserve no more consideration than a "Palestinian" suicide bomber's family.
To: Alouette
Precious! I hope the DUmbasses see that one. Their throats will grow sore from all the clucking and tsk-ing.
