I am sorry that I can't tell you where I am from, but I am inside Iran now.
Bam was a special trade zone, many advanced companies were there like Korean Daewoo car maker which was destroyed completely.
The city is famous for its Orange, Date and Brinjal (( If I recall its name correctly )).
Fortunately, the city of Bam has not many villages around.
Foreign rescue workers are working to help the victims and wounded people.

Consert, Iranians find that image very insulting and would appreciate you not spread it. Iran's true flag is the Iron and sword.

Iran's real flag

I just realized I jumped in here with a question without first giving my condolences for what happened in Bam. It's such an enormously tragic situation that it's hard to even understand. I mean 20,000 people... maybe even 30,000... that's just so hard to comprehend. I wish there was more I could do than just say "sorry".

Has anyone been rescued alive in the last 24 hours, that you've heard of? I know some countries (including the U.S.) are sending experienced rescuers, but I fear there will be no use for them. A news program I was watching said that the limit for a person to survive in such a situation was 72 hours, which has just passed, I think. But you never know. Miracles have happened in such situations. Especially with young children. They seem able to survive these things better than adults. I hope there are still some people that can be rescued alive. It would be nice to see some good news in this tragic situation.

Also, what do most Iranians think of your government's refusal to accept aid from Israel? It seems kind of petty to me, given the extraordinary circumstances. But I wonder how Iranians feel about it.

Please know that there are at least 20 foreign rescue teams in Iran now and please know the good people of Iran are in my heart and prayers. I must go to sleep now as it is very late in the day here now.

US to fly more aid to quake-hit Iran after first flight in nearly 23 years

10 minutes ago Add U.S. National - AFP to My Yahoo!

DOHA, (AFP) - The first US flight to Iran since the Iranian hostage crisis ended in 1981, which carried emergency aid to the earthquake-stricken population of Bam on Sunday, will be followed by more, the US Air Force said.

The US combined air operation centre in the Gulf state of Qatar said the Air National Guard C-130 which landed in Kerman early Sunday "carried aerial port operations and support agency experts to assess the operational and equipment needs for follow-on aircraft."

"The assessments are vital because the Department of Defense (news - web sites) is loading C-5 and C-17 aircraft for follow-on relief flights," a statement said.

"I'm going to do some additional assessing to see what may be needed, get a review of the airfield we are going into, and see what equipment is needed," said Colonel Bret Klassen, a US Air Force logistician.

Klassen said the follow-on flights would await his reports to ensure they can be scheduled in, have a place to ramp up and unload.

"I think it's a great opportunity to open up dialogue," added Klassen. "It's unfortunate that it's under these circumstances with such a large loss of life."

However in Washington, State Department spokesman Lou Fintor said, "there is no political angle here.

"Our efforts will not alter the tone or intensity of our dialogue with the Iranians on other matters of grave concern," he added, referring to US allegations that Iran supports terrorism and is seeking nuclear weapons.

The C-130 Herucles brought 20 pallets of humanitarian aid and five pallets of such medical supplies as intravenous fluids, bandages, gauze, and surgical equipment, plus food and purified water.

"American airmen and Iranian soldiers worked side-by-side forming a human chain to unload the 20,000 pounds (9,000 kilos) of badly needed material into waiting trucks," the statement said.

The supplies were then trucked into Bam a little more than 100 miles (160 kilometres) away.

"The humanitarian mission was the first American flight into Iran since the Iranian hostage crisis ended in January 1981," it added.

In what the air operation centre described as a "personal perspective" of the relief effort, Master Sergeant Jeff Bohn related details of the mission.

"Initial contact was with the Iranian military who deferred the unloading process to the civilian airport authorities," he said.

"Using an Air Force linguist, the needs of the Iranians and the Americans were discussed at length with broken phrases of American English and Iranian Farsi - on both sides.

"Eventually it was decided by necessity the Iranian military would unload the aircraft by hand. There was no fork lift or mechanized cargo loaders available," Bohn said.

"Approximately 30 Iranian soldiers clad in khaki and green stood patiently in a tight military formation while a tractor-trailer truck backed a large open-topped boxed bed up to the cargo aircraft's loading ramp.

"Pallets were stripped down and a joint, 45-person human chain was formed to transfer the cargo into the first and then a second waiting truck. Americans and Iranian service members worked side-by-side for nearly two hours unloading all of the relief supplies.

An Iranian air force colonel looked on and made several greetings to the US Air Force officers and men, Bohn said in a written statement.

"Thank you," the Iranian colonel said. "Thank you very much for helping."

Bohn wrote of "smiles" and "grins" exchanged.

"Many Iranian officials on the ground showed their thanks by giving many handshakes and warm greetings in broken English," he said

"Overall, I think it went smoothly even though it was a short notification and not much time to coordinate with the Iranians," Klassen said.

"I'm very pleased to find the Iranians were grateful for the humanitarian aid."
