The first was short and very strong, for a split second. I would have bet the rent it was a large explosion. Never felt one like that.

You might be sitting right over the epicenter. They feel like that when you're directly (or very close to) them.

There have been quakes continuously in central Cal and along the main fault east of LA and San Diego since the 6.5 earlier this week. Over 1000 and no sign of slowing. Looks like it is finally breaking off and falling into the ocean.

Interesting graphic from the USGS. Blue areas supposedly indicate where the earthquake was felt. Interesting that it skips an area then shows up near Northridge.

USGS now confirming three separate earthquakes.....With the largest at 3.5.

They don't think the current events are related to the other recent events....

How could they possibly know that so quickly?

I think there are some buried faults under Fresno, but the quakes we feel are usually those along the San Andreas fault line west of us and or those in the deserts to the south and also east in the Sierras.

Another 3.0 in Utah just now. Sure is active this week in the Southwest. It started on the new moon, but it hasn't stopped. Every 1/4 hour another spot appears on the USGS chart.

Gee, I just went through a 6.5 here in central California that made a mess of my house - and your talking about a "big shake" that was a 3.1...

We don't even notice the low 3's after shocks anymore there have been so many...
