You can't 'turn them' into people who care about America. When people don't want to assimilate, they won't do it.
That's what has happened....because of our open door policy. Before that, it would only be the people, from all countries, who truly wanted to be American.
I live just a few blocks away from a mostly hispanic neighborhood in California. The ilegals who don't want to assimilate don't fly the american flag, they fly the mexican one...or whichever latin country they come from.
I have been told by some people in this neighborhood, that they refuse to teach their kids english, and they absolutely will not lose their culture at home, or GIVE IN to the white culture.
Exactimiento! And in the case of Puerto Ricans, they don't even come from a different country -- they're Americans, yet even they refuse to fly the stars and stripes, and perpetuate the myth that PR is a sovereign nation, a myth that is also perpetuated by the media.
The whole thing pisses me off, I tell ya.
