I don't have the article, but I believe another FReeper posted an article stating about 130,000 "downer" cows are processed for human consumption each year. There was a bill before Congress to stop this, but he meat industry defeated it. Congress has the power to stop it, but evidently the people don't. Look, I'm not anti beef or anti meat. But I do resent the profits of the meat industry taking precedence over the health of the nation.
